Can this 14 K band be lengthened? Not sure what to do

This has been passed around the family and will not fit anyone. The band is very small as seen in the pics. Also, the watch does not appear to work. (Hands dont move)

My questions:

If I get it fixed, can the band be lengthened ? Is it worth it or just scrap for gold?

Thanks

Too nice to consider as scrap. That was a premium watch for its day. It is an 1960s vintage Omega Sapphette, with beautifully faceted synthetic sapphire crystal. It is a manual winder, and the lucky lady who ends up with it will have to wind it each day used. The bracelet could be lengthened by adding another “rung” on the bracelet. That would have to be done by a goldsmith, so it won’t be cheap to do, but the watch is well worth it, in my view.

Or have someone marry into a slimmer family and in the long run have grandchildren that can wield it with slimmer wrists

If it's solid gold, gold artisans exist, better to ask a jeweller that can make custom jewellery

These sometimes have removable bracelets too, so you could just remove the bracelet and use a leather strap as well but hard to seee from the photo
