interesting stuff, but it looks like the watches themselves can be more easily found than a NASA photo of an astronaut wearing such LCD Speedmaster

You must like repeating as you wrote this several times in different threads. Let me repeat what I already replied you, to refresh your memory.

This set of watches (numbered ones) was sent to NASA for testing, the main purpose being to provide the "new technology" watches to Shuttle Pilots.

I can imagine that the folks at NASA weren't necessarily excited about the idea of relying on electronical components in those tools as well as powering that tool with batteries that can fail or leak... Moreover, the astronauts themselves did prefer the "classical" mechanical toolwatch from what I heard from the Omega Heritage team. In the end, the Omega's suggestion remained at a suggestion stage and didn't make it in use.

On the other hand, since these watches were submitted only for testing purposes I think it's kind of obvious that we have hard time to find a picture of an astronaut wearing one of those. Testing = internal procedures. Could you find any pictures of different watches submitted to NASA by different brands for testing back in 1965? Same situation here.

Very good points indeed, AFAIK there're no photos of the watches being tested at NASA between November 1964 and March 1965 .
Lots of photos though showing the Speedmaster 105.012 watches being controlled & maintained at NASA 馃槈

Read this thread entirely + check www.omegalcdspeedmaster.com + search for my sales listings in the private sales section and you'll find photographs of several examples I've owned or still have.

HI

One of my favorite parts of the 1620 display..... if you look closely in the lower left hand corner of the LCD display ... its marked " SWISS MADE "

VERY COOL.......

Good Hunting

That鈥檚 good to know... I thought this was a small imperfection on the LCD on mine. But now I鈥檓 relieved!

Sorry I've just realized that I totally missed this question, my apologies. 馃槦

cal.1620 works with 1.55V batteries. According to my own experience, they last for 9 months to a year, depending on batteries you put it. By the way, I recommend to immediately remove empty batteries to reduce battery leak risk...

Is it 392 battery for them?
