Still, something must be said about returning objects. You should never, ever, make a refund prior to receive the item you sold in first place.
Furthermore, if you have to sign for the postman, check first if the item is the one!
Cheers!

Anyone else worried that the lack of an update is a sign of bad news? Hopefully the OP is just waiting for the return to arrive before posting.

Yeah, like the guy in Predator that says, "I'll go check", and that's the last they see of him.

He said the watch was not gonna be returned, but he hasn't said if he's been paid again after the refund yet. He was here yesterday but didn't answer questions the day before from people worrying for him. Let's all keep fingers crossed for him.

This is one reason why I tend not to sell high value items on Ebay to avoid such potential problems. There are too many scammers out there lurking around for high value items. Luckily in this case, it was a genuine buyer who was just concerned that the watch was fake.

I'm not sure this is the right conclusion to come to. The last time we heard from the seller, the buyer had his money back and had the watch.

I would not be surprised if the buyer was a scammer running the following scam:

- Buy a high value authentic watch on Ebay
- claim it to be fake
- return a fake to the seller
- count on Ebay/PayPal to force the seller to refund the money counting on the seller not being able to prove that the watch they got back was not the watch they sent.
- the "buyer" now has an authentic high value watch for free.

The seller made it even easier for the "buyer". He refunded the money before getting the watch back, so the "buyer" didn't even have to pay the postage to ship a fake watch back. If I'm correct it was an expensive lesson for the seller.

So what is the lesson for sellers
- document watches that you sell before shipping them. If the value is high, a professional 3rd party authentication is cheap insurance.
- force the buyer to prove their assertion. Seller says it is a fake? Where is their 3rd party authentication?
- never refund the money before you get the goods back.

I hope. I'm wrong and in the end the seller got their money from the buyer for the watch.

On the first page the OP did say:

The 4th post on the first page....

Through eBay I refunded the money and they are sending it back. I am going to confirm officially that it is real.

While we wait I will just say there are no bad scenes in Predator. 😀

Absolutely agree on the last part. It's probably the equivalent of a shop owner giving someone's money back before the customer brings the product back 🤦

Thanks for everyone's comments and concern. It has definitely been a learning experience. Along the way, I have met a lot of great people.

As things stand, Paypal is finishing up sending the buyer his "refund." Immediately thereafter, they are going to refund the refund. I have 100 percent confidence this will proceed as expected. In the future, I won't jump so quickly to refund.

I did so because I am not an expert on Omega Watches and was really taken aback when the person said it was a fake. If I had waited a few more MINUTES, I wouldn't have been in this situation.

I will let everyone know when this case is 100 percent completed.

I think you will come out this okay. Hindsight is always 20/20. Smart people learn from their mistakes, others repeat them.

Glad you're back on here. We are here for support. Can't wait to hear that things are resolved!

Yes, sometimes we can come across a little critical at times, but this is because we are very concerned that people learn not only from their mistakes, but from the mistakes that we made in the past too. We want good outcomes for everyone that asks for help. Unfortunately some folks never learn. Very glad this is looking good.
