You folks are going to love this. The buyer had the watched looked at again. Authentic. No return, no,refund. wow
G gocsanThis is one reason why I tend not to sell high value items on Ebay to avoid such potential problems. There are too many scammers out there lurking around for high value items. Luckily in this case, it was a genuine buyer who was just concerned that the watch was fake.
I'm not sure this is the right conclusion to come to. The last time we heard from the seller, the buyer had his money back and had the watch.
I would not be surprised if the buyer was a scammer running the following scam:
- Buy a high value authentic watch on Ebay
- claim it to be fake
- return a fake to the seller
- count on Ebay/PayPal to force the seller to refund the money counting on the seller not being able to prove that the watch they got back was not the watch they sent.
- the "buyer" now has an authentic high value watch for free.
The seller made it even easier for the "buyer". He refunded the money before getting the watch back, so the "buyer" didn't even have to pay the postage to ship a fake watch back. If I'm correct it was an expensive lesson for the seller.
So what is the lesson for sellers
- document watches that you sell before shipping them. If the value is high, a professional 3rd party authentication is cheap insurance.
- force the buyer to prove their assertion. Seller says it is a fake? Where is their 3rd party authentication?
- never refund the money before you get the goods back.
I hope. I'm wrong and in the end the seller got their money from the buyer for the watch.

I think you will come out this okay. Hindsight is always 20/20. Smart people learn from their mistakes, others repeat them.
Glad you're back on here. We are here for support. Can't wait to hear that things are resolved!
