If the PLT YM dial wasn't so dull I'd love it. I just think the explorer II appeals to the masses much like the submariner without being 6500+

oh I agree the expy II appeals to the masses but I wouldn't call the YM dial "dull". if anything a bit blingy no? 馃榿

I like the white but if I wanted one Explorer it would be the 16550 in black with patina -

Awesome watch, I鈥檓 a big fan of that model. I used to own a M serial w the 3186 and that ran like the atomic clock.

Back on subject, the black dial 16570 is probabley the cheapest point of entry for 5 digit sport Rolex, the polar dials seem to trade for more but I do prefer the black myself.

There was a time not long ago when the 14060 Submariner was the oddball price wise, the 16610 and GMT's were shooting up while the "clean" Sub was still well priced, luckily for me it has found its feet and picked up in the last 12 months.

I agree, while the polars aren鈥檛 $3k like they used to be, they are still $4/5k under a similar 16710. And the crazy thing is what options do you really have with a white dial in the Rolex sport line, Milgauss (which is almost more of a sporty DJ) the Daytona... $$$ and then the track multiple time zones beautiful 16570 Polar. I think it鈥檚 still grossly undervalued and a great watch

If you're going 16550 you gotta shell out the extra cash and go for the cream dial! 馃槈

Completely agree. Neo-vintage polar 16570 is still the best buy in steel sports Rolex. Here鈥檚 mine 馃榾

Beautiful! I'm looking at picking up one of these now -- most of the ones I'm finding have seen a lot of polishing, and the prices are definitely on the rise. Prefer the case and overall look to the 2.

If everyone would kindly shut the hell up about the polar E2 that'd be great, thanks.
I'm trying to buy one in the hopefully near future and I don't need these things to skyrocket in price all of a sudden...

^ this and stop hyping the 14060 also please and thank you

It鈥檚 all subjective to personal taste. The Explorer 16570 is the same price as an equivalent sub these days. But yes, the Explorer 16570 is a bargain compared with the GMT master, considering the only difference is a rotating bezel.

They are nice. I would prefer the black dial, but many drool over the white dial. My choice would be Coke GMT in great shape. Simply more iconic in my view. That rotating bezel makes a huge difference. That is the feature that allows the third time zone and it is an awesome feature.

I had both and kept the 16570 black dial. Much more versatile and works well on fairer skin types. Bought the 3186 with engraved, full set, unpolished for 7.5K euros. That鈥檚 a lot of money, but condition is everything.

You Sir, know what鈥檚 up. This is such an oddball choice that I can see become very collectible 20 years from now. I managed to snag one at rrp last month. Pretty difficult to come by nowadays.

explorer II . i prefer the black dial but the cream dial is really something. The price is also something.. I personally will not pay double for that dial.

I have had mine for a little while. It's not as bad as the daytona but it definitely can get scratched up if you are not careful..

Thank you, and I guess the bezel on the white dial and black would be similarly prone to scratches right? No difference in the dial colour?
