Best Value in Steel Sport Model Rolex

IMO the best value in Rolex steel sports is the 16600 Sea-Dweller. There is no reason why those are a lot of the time cheaper than a 14060m Sub. The SD is an entirely different beast altogether and at 40mm it is the perfect size.

Does the Bezel get scratches easily? I like the black dial a as also.

Those bezels can show a lot of wear and tear. Prefer the coke.

I like the white but if I wanted one Explorer it would be the 16550 in black with patina -

Beautiful patina

I have had mine for a little while. It's not as bad as the daytona but it definitely can get scratched up if you are not careful..

As you see in the 16570 above the paint on the bezel does seem to wear off over time with polishing

If everyone would kindly shut the hell up about the polar E2 that'd be great, thanks.
I'm trying to buy one in the hopefully near future and I don't need these things to skyrocket in price all of a sudden...
It's not all the sudden. The demand has been increasing over the last 2 years or so. Good luck on the purchase!

Oh I know! hah.
It was like right when I discovered that I did actually want one and started looking and keeping track of prices I have just been watching them go up and up!
I feel like it is still a relatively "under the radar" watch. And with people hyping it up and will just fall in line with all the other unobtainable SS Rolex.

Agreed, same with the old Snoopy Speedmaster. When I first started looking at them, they were $3000-4000, now over $8000. So frustrating.

I love the 16570. Try it on Jubilee. I owned one for a brief time, until one day my wife let her dad wear it to a wedding. That was a month ago and he still wears it daily. I don’t think I’m getting it back.

agreed, once upon a time like 2015-2016s i was able to buy them at $4200-$4300 no box/papers at a second hand watch shop Id frequent and was what inspired my love for rolex as Id never seen any other rolex before sub dates. i was instantly enamored and had to have one. They even had 3 to 4 to choose from and one black dial usually. Now, nothing.

It’s good for me (since prices have seem to skyrocket), but the Milgauss used to be an excellent buy. Here’s mine.

The 216570 doesn't do it for me, but I agree that you get a lot of watch for your money (in comparison to other Rolex models).

I like the 114060 (biased because I own one) and the 214270 as "good values" for their costs. Personally, because I dislike the aesthetics of the Airking and milgauss do NOT have good value.

Well, the best value used to be 16570 Explorer II's, but those prices have gone up strongly. Sea-Dwellers 16600 back when they were $5-6K, but now they want $9-10K for a watch only unpolished 16600 with lug-holes, which is a big stretch IMO based how long it was in production - it is simply not a rare watch.

I used to save that 36mm Explorer, preferably with solid end links, were the ones to get.

Best value at this point? Perhaps a good unpolished semi-vintage Datejust?

I agree, the 16610 Sub is fantastic value. Ticks all the boxes for an iconic Rolex.
