Probably very wishful thinking, but next year celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ultraman. The original is my ultimate grail Speedy, so I wouldn't be too opposed to a re-release 馃檮.

Hope springs eternal: the Golden Squirrel Calatrava LE, pleeez...

(which reminded me how much I miss The Squirrel)

Coolest feature is the running seconds, indicated by the squirrel's left ear.

Would be limited to 32,000 pieces, commemorating the frequency of the watch's silicon dioxide electronic oscillator.

Big difference between making a watch and slipping in a movement and actually

Perhaps a Speedmaster FSIS - First Squirrel in Space.

No seriously. 32.000 pieces is too limited. Omega would want to make money not only cater to the die hard wealthy collectors. X 10 would be more appropriate.

Reminds of a joke that I think was on Seinfeld.

some guy - "It's a limited edition."
Seinfeld- "yeah, it's limited to how many you can sell"

Man, while I love the Ultraman I'm actually hoping for a proper 2998 remake. My thought process is that:

1. They've already got a new case mold from the 2915 so they can reuse that
2. They've already got the lollipop chrono sweep from the 2998CK

So just combine the two, have the normal speedy set up and VIOLA! You have my $7k.

The ranchero for me as well, but not with left over cases from the railmaster le, a modern take on the theme.

As I think others have stated, apparently 2018 will be a "Seamaster" year. A Seamaster 300m diver without the HE valve perhaps using the 8806 movement, might make me pull the trigger.

Could not care less about another Speedy LE in 2018...happy with my XI45 and ST, can only see myself buying a possible Apollo 11 50th LE and a Soyuz in the future.

A Seamaster world time in steel with more elegant dial colors might be an interesting option as Superdoc mentioned, but I have not seen the LE live...it does look a bit large and bulky. A std Globemaster with a sunburst black or dark grey dial with matching date disc color would be a nice addition, but with the current focus on the new ATs I don't think Omega will generate internal competition with additional GM offerings.

I know this is thread drift...but I have to say that unless Omega do something dramatic such as putting their chronograph 9900 movements in a 42mm case (extremely unlikely), right now I am probably more interested as to what some other brands might bring to Basel 2018. I will be curious to see new chronographs from Tudor using the upgraded B01, new Heuers using the 02 movement and whether Zenith will put their new oscillator in a more discreet case. Also hoping for some slimmer watches and perhaps improved bracelets from Grand Seiko + better service policy on their Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches. Also wishing that Rolex launches something new that finally takes away interest from the ceramic Daytona, bringing it back down to retail pricing馃榾馃檮

It may have been mentioned already, but 2018 will be the 25th anniversary of the Bond Seamaster Professional ... Some kind of commemorative version is probably inevitable - and perhaps an updated version as well. Those of us who are curious may get our wish ...

I've also heard that the Seamaster 300 is getting an update with a full in house caliber next year. This source is from someone better than a reputable AD too. I hope it's true.

I think a speedy panda dial is also in the works... possibly FOIS style?? Maybe even a Ultraman style second hand?? I'm not so sure on this one though.

I would like to see an anniversary piece of the 1948 Seamaster that reminds me of the Edizione Venezia

Yes a 1948 Seamaster reissue using the new 8806 calibre would certainly tick off Omega's obligatory "vintage" box in 2018. I hope we do see some restraint on the Speedy LE side in 2018 as 2019 is certainly going to be a very big Speedy year with the Apollo 11 50th celebrations. A new Seamaster 300 diver and vintage reissue Seamaster LEs (hopefully sans date) in steel and PM could be a good range of releases for Basel 2018.

I'd be pretty happy if Omega just offered something genuinely useful like a simple watch pouch.

Not radical - more use of 12 hour bezels to give simple, but useful dual time functionality.

Radical - trial a 24 hour purist dual timer watch possibly based on this GMT. Lose the GMT hand, attach the hour hand to the GMT post, (not saying it's really that simple 馃槈) make a 24hr numbered dial and call it the Seamaster 24 or something not yet copyrighted or trademarked and test it by offering it as a limited edition to start with.

Good catch. Would be nice if there was some specific mention / link to the STS missions.

Perhaps this will be an opportunity for a Panda dial LE using the Alaska Radial numbering?

It does seem that panda dials are a strong industry trend at the moment...even before the Paul Newman Daytona sale. Just read that Montblanc will be releasing a new in-house calibre 3-dial racing inspired "Timewalker" chronograph in 2018...yes you guessed it, with a panda dial.

Anyone else get the "Speedy Tuesday" email today? Thanked me for my support and said they'd like to put me at the front of the queue for the new Speedy to be released this year, yet it gave no details as to what I need to do or anything else. Odd email really.
