North American highways, and the drivers who travel them, need to take a lesson from their European counterparts. It’s such a treat to drive over there.

Not if you're already slightly short of the red-line holding 130mph/210kph and you spend more time looking in the mirrors for something like this than watching the trucks for sudden lane changes.

another video that guy did some time ago where he hits speedo top speed and it drops back down to zero. Pretty wild.

At a cars and coffee evening.

This guy didn’t park between the lines but I was told that he owns the parking lot…….

Recently I've been developing an increased liking for the more recent classic Ferraris, especially the V8s. Here are few at Brands Hatch earlier this month - more here.

Last up-shift at 310!

I want one.

I was lucky to grab one for a decent price. Spent some euros and it is in a top-notch condition now. Love the engine, it is just one of a kind. The only odd is you need to learn how to shift with the SMG.

Terrific! Calgary, yes? I suspect it'll be another month until these Alberta beauties get their well-deserved winter holiday.

Pretty exceptional when it came out. Note it is not the later down graded MB badged version they have now. This was a Rolls alternative.

My wife had an Audi Q7 V12 TDI and I got it to 280kph on the autobahn, rev counter was only at 5000 😀. Getting up to top speed is not an issue, keeping it there is where the fun starts. On another occasion I was cruising to Hannover in my A8 at about 230kph when a truck decided to overtake a truck in front of him, I nearly put the brake pedal through the bulkhead and could feel myself about to poo.... cooked the brake discs and had to spend an extra two days in Hannover while Audi ordered the parts and replaced them for me. Now I am older an a bit more sensible and drive a vw bus.

Or Australian roads. These are roads below. You just can’t cross them. Unless you’re in a ‘97 Hyundai excel with a Magic Happens bumper sticker. In which case you’re likely to give it a go.

Wow! And here I thought all highways in Australia were bone dry, straight as arrows for 1000 miles, and custom made for road trains (based on the view from a long-ago flight I took into Yulara).

That’s in @STANDY country, though bits of his flood badly too. We used to have a bit of derestricted highway too like the autobahn until the fun police got to it

Only 10% of roads up my way have tar on them. The 90% are dirt roads that don't have speed limits.
Wet season your not going far out of town.

Do they not have speed limits or just not have cops enforcing them? I know Stuart highway used to be legit derestricted but I thought it was 130 max now?

So once out of town you have a lot of roads that are black circle with a line so No speed limit. (Couple of sections of Stuart Hwy) And all other roads outside of them are 130 and usually signposted to 130.

They still have a few hundred Kms of good straight and flat as a tack road on the Stuart Hwy outside of Alice Springs that is open to any speed. ( had a Lamborghini shipped in a container not long ago to be driven by a owner there for a few days, rumour has it 😉 )

Fun police or not, that's a decent rate. In the US there are only a couple highways in Texas with posted limits that high.
