Hey guys,

What are your thoughts on this dial? In my opinion everything looks ok. Swiss made is there, text looks right and case looks unpolished. I am aware that black dials are minefield but this one looks right.

Thanks in advance
Tom

Regarding the applied numerals, does the 1 of the twelve look higher than the 2 ?

Also does the 6 look a bit wonky ?

As you say the dial text looks pretty reasonable so it’s only the numbers that would make me worry. Better photos would help a lot but I guess that’s all you have.

Actually looking at it again, some appear applied and some appear just painted on. The nine looks like paint, as does the 1 of the twelve. The 2 of the twelve, the 3, and the 6 look applied. Edit to add that in o5er photos the 9 might be OK but still the 1 looks odd to me.

I’m interested to see what it looks like when you get it. Sometimes lighting, angled, dial damage, can make it hard to tell if things are right. Fingers crossed.

From happy to miserable in 2 seconds 😀

I have nightmares where I post to OF

Edit: My .02 - that crown is dangerous too I believe, I think Chinese faked a couple of crowns, that model was one of them, but I never saw any conclusive evidence

Thanks for the input. I was so focused on printing which looks legit that I didn't even noticed problems with numerals. Managed to make a deal with seller and canceled the sale. No more black dials for meeeeee :whipped:

If I had half your courage, I'd post a recent black dial I bought, but I'll just spend my days happy in blissful ignorance - worst case scenario I'll lose $200 and sell it

They do happen more often than you think, but it’s easy to become hyper focused on one thing and lost the whole picture- have had that happen to me several times 🤦

Good you were able to get it cancelled. Just ask for advice before buying, even if via PM.

Unfortunatelly, found it 10min before it ended, so it was like now or never moment. 🤔

Do you mind sharing what you were going to pay for it?

And did the auction show any movement pictures?

Despite the issues with the applied markers (which could be crystal distortions), I feel the rest looks good and I wouldn't outright call it a redial without seeing it in person.

If the price was good enough, I would even risk buying it.
