I watched a recent auction from Bonhams in France (where buyers from inside EU would have to pay extra import VAT on top of hammer+commission!).
There was a single photo offer: a rose gold watch with an 30 T2 SC Rg movement + chronometre dial but indexes and hands where "white" (most likely white gold). description mentioned "Hands: Replaced at some point", OK at least they got this right.
But then "Signed: Case, dial & movement" - the case was definitely not signed as I could see in additional photos I had requested.
The case was non-Omega - so the movement/dial had been recased. No mention in the item description!
The person who sent me the additional photos was Luka Čulić, Senior Specialist, Watches.
I sent him a response and told him that the item description was misleading because the re-casing was not mentioned at all and I advised him to amend the lot description.
And guess what: no reaction, no response, the item description remained misleading...
Bonhams is another auction house to be handled cautiously - do your due diligence before you drop a bid there.
I know, you want to see a photo, not a link. But I post only a link this time because I am afraid the auction house might take legal measures if I use their photo without asking for permission as some kind of revenge...
