I hate it when this happens 🤦‍♂️ So I found the Citizen Monaco 8110-901107-Y chronograph with golden/yellow(Y) dial at the end of Feb. And obviously only then started to sort of dig into what had I purchased (I mean I wasn't a complete stranger to 81** movement / Citizen Monaco, but...).

This watch was (presumably) available only in green and golden dial variants. And low and behold, while digging in, I bump into a green dial ref 8110-901115-KA which I thought wasn't a total bargain, but not completely unreasonably priced either and in considerably better condition than the Y variant. And why have one, when you can have both... 🤷‍♂️

P.S. That’s how it’s done, @G___, @clockoclock ;-)

It’s idiotic to not have two if you can.

(Tell me if you’re selling, though)

The mental gymnastics to justify this goes along the lines that in the long run, if parts run out then one or the other could work as a donor.

Maybe but more likely this is the reason you will buy a 3rd ( or maybe more) ask me how I know!

As long as each one makes you feel different they’re different watches in my book. It’s why i gravitate to exotic dials.

Another Camaro. I think the Camaro is possibly my favourite watch.
Despite owning more than ten over the years, including several exotic noir dials, I’ve never had a 3 register noir exotic dial until today.

Excellent dial, beautiful fade on the tachy and nice case. Shortly going away for a service.

My second Citizen Deluxe Para Shock arrived today, EBay auction purchase, only $101 US before shipping, duty and taxes. The dial and caseback are in excellent condition. 34.5mm diameter, only 8.5mm thin. There is so much dial that I thought I somehow bought a 36mm case size.

I have been on the lookout for a GMT for a while now and this was announced earlier this year. At 39mm it's more my preferred size than its older sibling 42mm versions with the same movement. It's a "caller" GMT rather than a "traveler" but that's OK because I don't go traveling much any more 🙁🙁

Kontiki 20 small case

Does this have the medallion on case back? If so it would be a shame not to show it!!!

Great watch none the less!😎

Cool watch, cool story. Love it. But almost everything Thor Heyerdahl theorized has been proven wrong.

Still, quite the adventure, Peru to Tahiti.

His teory that Polynesia was settled from south America have been proven wrong. DNA shows that it was settled from Asia. How ever DNA also have shown that there was contact with south America in the 1100`s CE. And there is the sweet potato, a South American plant that was used a lot in Polynesia.

So it was not "almost everything" it was just the direction of the settling that was proven wrong by DNA in later years. In his time it was logical for him that Polynesia was settled from South America because of cultural, biological and language similaritys. His opponents had just the distance sailed as a counter argument. Heyerdahl saw that the Polynesians were fantastic navigators, it just went west to east not the other way around.

Yes I am Norwegian😉
