A few incoming lately I need to introduce, let's start with the latest one... A 22m black dial Tissot for my niece, whom I already given her a small Longines and Eterna Kontiki, both vintage. Goal being we share similar watches 😀

I’ve previously posted this June acquisition, a (probably faux) £80 Tissot but it’s a nice holiday wearer and, having worn it, I am particularly impressed by the quality and comfort of the (new) strap that it came on.

Having checked to see if the strap was branded, and thinking I might get a couple (which I might still do) I googled the maker and am shocked, given what I paid for the watch (including strap) to discover the strap is a current style retailing at £26.50.

Frankly, I’m a little amazed.

PS. The watch works well too.

The second arrival this month (thanks to an OF logistic scheme) is an Eterna Kontiki 130TT with its Gay Frères bracelet.

It is now in the hand of my watchmaker.

Nothing super special, but I did receive this one last week. Now to get inside and see what is in there.

I may have previously posted this one here but when I received it, the watch was in really rough non-working condition (1st photo from eBay listing) and after a three month stint at the shop for an overhaul service, I picked it up today. The watchmaker recommended we leave the dial alone as much as possible, which was also my preference, and just cleaned up what the could without damaging it. It may seem rough to some but I'm a fan of the weathered look...
When received:

Today running smoothly:

Hot off the Bench!
I purchased this Girard-Perregaux a few years ago but only now serviced it. What attracted me was the lovely stainless steel case, with its sinuously integrated lugs and bezel. It’s powered by an automatic 47AE, which uses the ETA 1256 as ébauche..

Looking forward to the arrival of this.

I still regret not going for a similar Baylor that was pointed out to me, although it was bought by another OF member.

This one looks like it might assuage that 😀

Just received this special piece complete with original signed crystal, original date stamped bracelet, and the best part is the Zenith El Primero under the hood. The dual toned Bakelite bezel is a real treat too. 🥰 From 1970

I wanted to do a proper post on this when it arrived but I was too excited, and ended up posting just a wrist shot. This watch has a neat story and too many textures and details that I feel warrants more images. Sometime around 1968/69 Zenith and Movado merged as a way for Zenith to sell watch’s in the North American market, as Zenith Radio Corp prevented Zenith from doing so due to naming rights. That is, until Zenith Radio Corp bought Zenith watch’s but that’s another story for another time. That leads us to this funky dive watch. Yes, it was rated to 10 ATM, has a dive extension in the clasp of the GF ladder bracelet, and a screw down crown. It does, after all, have Super Sub Sea on the case back. Ticking inside is a 17j Zenith 3019 PHC El Primero beating at 36,000vph and it’s real fun to listen to. It’s 17j and unadjusted as opposed to Zenith’s normal 31j adjusted as a way to avoid higher duties/taxes of the time. It’s a really neat piece that is a visual treat with the applied logo, applied indices, concentric circles in the sub dials and the split tone Bakelite bezel. The dial, in some light, looks deep black but to the eye it’s a really pleasing charcoal color. I unfortunately don’t have any movement photos of my own as the previous seller wrenched the caseback down more than my rubber ball can handle.

And the sellers movement photos

^ Wow that’s a tough one to follow.

Being a Mido fan, I regretted not buying the immaculate one in the private sales recently. I bought this one hoping it would just be an ok band aide to the one I missed out on. Turned out better than I thought.

Lovely, I'm a sucker for a quality sunburst dial, wear in health.

Received this ol' 166.0141 in the post yesterday. Came complete with with signed crystal, crown strap and buckle clasp. Cleaned it up a bit last night and put it on this textured dark brown strap from Worn&Wound.

Waiting on the PolyWatch to arrive so I can bring this signed crystal, which from what I was told appears to be original, back to life.

Straum arrived today. The dial has amazing depth and color. “Damascus Steel” pops. High quality leather band.
Absolutely love it.

Pebro? I love their straps, great value for money. I have more currently on order through WatchObsession!

Just back from the spa. Looking forward to marrying it with some strap options... I have a mocha Rios1931 bund that might do the trick nicely.

I've been looking at lots of vintage blue dial Omegas, but then stumbled upon this Dynamic on Ebay. I tried Polywatch but there are still a few marks and lint under the crystal. Came on a dark blue Omega strap, but this cream colored deployant really makes the sunburst dial pop.
