I seem to be on a pocket watch buying spree this week, here is another one just bought tonight.

I have no clue what it is other than the seller says it sets and works.

With the blued iron case I suspect military? but really I have no clue.

Wont know more till it arrives in my hands.

I think we need a What Chronograph did you buy recently thread.

Roamer Vanguard 303 from 1970s. Caliber MST 801. These were Roamer's budget watches at the time.

My first Omega was a Seamaster from 2011 (2221.80.00, which looks like the Goldeneye bond watch). I've worn it with pride for years, but then I got into vintage watches and accustomed to the smaller sizes. Still- I was missing a daily beater that I could wear all summer here in Barcelona, no worrying about theft, dents, water, etc.
I thought about a Moonswatch but no stock. And then reverted to a model that had been on my list for a long time; this 90s Seamaster.
I love the lume that has been turning towards dark yellow, the small size (36mm) and the bezel as well! Plenty of these available and I was able to strike a good deal with a Japanese seller (first time!).
Switched the steel bracelet for this NATO strap and super happy with the result.

I had the fortune of buying all of these from an estate on Friday. This is what came out after two sessions of cleaning.

I received this on Friday. I think I am going to send it to Nesbit's soon unless someone can suggest someone better in the US. Came on an 1159 bracelet that would probably fit an 8 inch wrist. I hope Omega still makes those little springbars that hold the links together because I am going to need some.

Never seen one like this before - what is it?
It’s an Omega F300 chronometer circa 1972-4. I believe it was sold under the Constellation branding when launched.

For the movement the Omega used a patented tuning fork based Accutron movement made by ESA and licensed from Bulova and finished by Omega. Ref 1260

Launched in 1960, the Accutron was the world's first fully electric watch and at the time the most accurate timekeeping mechanism ever devised. They are remarkable watches with a fascinating story.

The tuning fork technology was so accurate that NASA used it for timing for new satellites and for timekeeping in their spacecraft. The U.S. government even asked Bulova to delay the release of their cutting edge new watches for fear the technology might fall into the hands of the Russians. An Accutron watch movement sits on the moon's Sea of Tranquility today, in an instrument placed there in 1969 by Apollo 11 astronauts.

These watches use a battery driven tuning fork whose vibrations are converted by a special index mechanism into an almost smoothless rotary motion of the hands. At the time tuning fork watches were the most accurate timekeeping mechanisms ever devised.

Here are some of the watch's features:
  • Originally guaranteed to be 99.9977% accurate on your wrist (not just in a laboratory) - Accurate to within a minute a month
  • Durable and simple - its few moving parts don't require usual watch maintenance and repair
  • It never needs winding - a remarkable feat over forty years ago. Hope this helps !

Got this a couple of days ago and just fitted a battery.

Bill Clinton special .

Not a quartz fan but it's a very practical wear.

Hopefully like it's namesake I will progress to Rolex, VC's and Patek's soon enough.
