@gbesq dibs on the 2761
Acknowledged, but I have to replace the incorrect crown and bent second hand before you can stake a claim. 😀

And that’s why I bought it! Like they say, if the foundation is good, then everything else can be fixed. Have a black teju lizard strap incoming to replace the current cheap leather one.

Pretty little Cyma that I bought for beer money prices. Nice patina and a beautiful well running r414 movement.

They both look great, but those after market bracelets are a turnoff. You have to post pictures when after they arrive.

I'm gonna make separate thread because there are many mysteries regarding this watch ::stirthepot::

Wow, that has been seriously re-lumed! I have a similar Seamaster DeVille but the lume is all patina and dead as a hammer.
No lie! Those hands look like they were relumed with radium, tritium and superluminova - at the same time! Wonder if you can see that watch at night while orbiting the Earth? 😀

I believe the tritium is original. That pic was taken a second or two after charging with a UV light. All light drops off within 25 seconds after charging.

How old is the watch? Given that tritium only has a half live of 12 years or so, I wouldn't expect it to glow that brightly even after exposure to UV light.

It’s not the tritium that’s growing under UV. It’s the phosphor-luminescent part of the lume. Initially this was continuously excited by the tritium and though the tritium no longer emits sufficient energy, a strong light source can still momentarily excite it.

He speaks truth. Nothing radioactive actually emits visible light on its own, unless of course the levels are so high it's ionizing the air or the radiation is causing so much heat the heated area is glowing. You might be seeing Cherenkov radiation as well. Then again, that's still not the radioactivity being visible; like excited tritium, it's the effect of the radiation on the environment causing the light. In any of those cases, enjoy the brief light show because you will be dead soon.

Well I'll be dipped. My '69 does have life left in it, but like you said, it's literally a second or two, tops, and then it's gone. I had to check in a dark room with the UV light. I knew the tritium was all but gone, and I thought the zinc sulfide was all used up as well.

You were quick with the shutter!

Just got this one back from my WM this afternoon.
All I had was the case, glass and caseback, luckily he had the correct movement and dial for the reference a 25 jewel manual wind, unfortunately not the original crown but I will find one later.
Well pleased with this result as the stainless case was as close to new as you will ever find for a used unpolished case and far to good to go to scrap.

**** EDIT**** It doesnt look exactly like I want and I will be keeping an eye out for a different dial and hand set and crown in keeping with other examples I have seen.
Even just changing out the crown to the correct stainless big crown will make a considerable difference to the look but having gone this far at least its a start on its journey back to authenticity, at the moment it probably shouts Franken to some. *******

Another Enicar rescued!!

later on this week I will have another rescued Enicar to show that needed a new case, just waiting on the correct metal backed glass, the preview today with a new glass fitted was amazing, stunning and a joy to see, can't wait to get it in my collection.

Sending this off to the mothership. I got it at a good price because the manual wind is not working.

Finally got the new 1962 Constellation all cleaned up (was dirty/on a beat up speidel band when I got it)! It's ref 14393/4 and I couldn't be happier with the pie pan dial.
