Well my second purchase of lockdown has arrived. I love it. It’s a “Seiko sports 5 x Brian May “ Special Edition SRPE83K1.

What makes this Seiko 5 unique is its dial. It has been faithfully modelled after The Queens legends own Red Special guitar, which was built entirely with hand tools by Brian and his dad in the early 1960’s.The red and black colour scheme is echoed on the dial with a guitar silhouette on the left and wood grain pattern throughout the red.
The dials angled, internal minute track is also red and “Red Special” has been added in script on the dial. A Hardlex crystal covers the front, surrounded by a unidirectional bezel with a detailed 60-minute scale. The case is water-resistant to 100 metres.
The watch has a mineral crystal exhibition caseback Which displays the in-house Calibre 4R36 automatic. It has 24 jewels, beats at 21,600vph (3Hz) with a 41-hour power reserve. It’s has Brian’s signature included on the glass in yellow with a limited edition serial number engraved in the steel.
The Watch comes with is a NATO-style black nylon strap with a stainless steel pin buckle, styled similarly to the strap Brian now uses on his guitar.
The watch comes with a Presentation case which is Designed in accordance with the Red Special’s custom flight case, the presentation box also contains a commemorative coin that is based on the sixpence that Brian uses as a plectrum.
The lune is what you would expect from a Seiko..The picture below shows the lune after about 5 secs exposure outside.

Congrats! I really wanted to pull the trigger on this, but couldn't get over the LE pricing. Glad it doesn't disappoint in person!

Purchased a Planet Ocean 2201.50, full set, yesterday and am now waiting for it to arrive. UPS tells me it will arrive tomorrow. To say that I’m excited would be an understatement.

Dude. I know the anxiety of anticipation. I have found that being mindful of the joy of anticipation is a powerful force, and I most enjoy when I am able to relish the anticipation. Works best when everything turns out just right...which is of course and unfortunately, based on hindsight.

As has been said: "bettuh zan ze deed, bettuh zan ze memory...zee anticipation" (embellished French accent helps me solidify this quote in memory). My only reference is the ridiculous Simpsons. But it stands true in many ways.

I have found this quote helpful to determine what I truly seek - am I simply infatuated, fixated on something - pursuit of love, wealth, health, satisfaction - or in my efforts am I truly aspiring to something that will bring me a lasting sense of joy, shared or not, and whether future events change my focus, will I lament the time and all other effort spent gaining or attempting to gain it, or will I always have a moment in time that I might reflect on fondly, thinking along the lines of "whether it is important to me now, I enjoyed the part of my life that I spent gaining what I have, from its pursuit (and acquisition or failure to acquire)"...

Anybody who can focus acquisition of anything - experience, suffering, gain or loss - on this sentiment, will certainly have some life events that will truly define value.

And will likely have not only entertaining stories to tell, but the ability to tell them in a way that creates a shared vision of adventure, chance, and happenstance. If we do not enjoy this as humans, we are closer to animals.

May those who have been most deprived, enjoy moments of satisfaction. May those who have been indulged realize the satisfaction of want.

I’ve finally joined the vintage watch gang!
After trawling this forum for information and receiving helpful feedback from members on a couple of watches that had me pressing my nose against the eBay window(& saving me buying some Mumbai magic😉).
I’d been looking for something around my birth year ‘66, preferably gold/gold capped but beyond that not really sure what I wanted(other than good quality!) and initially Omega or Longines within the budget. Having picked up on the history of Lemania on here I went with this for a shade under £500. The pics on eBay actually made it look a little dinged up so I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.
Haven’t been able to wear it yet as I don’t have a case back closing tool😟

Just arrived:

Funky, cool ‘Slinky’ bracelet!

Box & Papers.

... with a bit of my own research, I found that this was originally sold at Asmussen’s Jeweller’s, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada in December of 1949.

For a Sports 5 it not inexpensive , but with all the extras and That dial could resist. Plus I’m a Queen fan

It's pretty cool because at first I just looked at the pics and thought, "that looks like the side a guitar or it's pick guard", then I saw the coin. When I saw the coin in your post halfway through, then I knew exactly what it was all about. Then I read the name.

I'm like a kid reading a picture book sometimes, and I miss the words.
