Well today my latest new friend arrived. Not the most upmarket watch I’ve ever purchased. But for value unbelievable functionality. It’s a Casio World Timer and I love it. This one is the SS version and wears very well on the wrist. It has the ability to display the time in all 31 time zones around the world. The watch has a countdown timer, stopwatch, five daily alarms, and on-demand backlight, as well as an analog LCD display that always shows home time, and, for a wonder, even displays running seconds. The really neat feature of the watch is the world map display – this is found right above the main digital display of the time, and the current local time zone is in black.

It certainly gives a retro feel and brings back a bit of nostalgia. My reason for it’s purchase was to add it to my Mr Bond collection ala Casino Royal. It may not be an everyday beater for me but it will certainly won’t just sit in the cupboard . At under £15 ( $19) it’s a great buy !

Another cheap eBay fashion watch for my daughter. She may have a larger collection than I do soon.

I honestly can't say why I bought this 3511.60. It was like the Siren's song and I didn't have a mast to tie myself to. It's either going to be uglier than a mud fence or stunning.

Got these in the mail (so technically not arrived yet, so technically not the right thread... but I'm just trying to deal with anticipation 😀 )

not my pics -- will post some when they do arrive. The Revue is due any day now

I’ve wanted a blue dial watch for a long time, and will ultimately get something like an Aqua Terra or a GO. But since I went from one nice watch to three within the last year (DSOTM and Blancpain) I decided to cool my jets for a while and just get the below. Before I had any nice watches my wife got me an Eco-Drive Skyhawk and it was my daily for a while. It is over 15 years old now and the solar battery is still going strong, so I decided to step into the Eco-Drive pool once more. Without further ado...

Picked up a fun little brother of my Hamilton today: Marathon Mil-W-46374F Type 1 with the tritium vials and with an orange tube at 12.

Managed a 'Super Early Bird' on this Kickstarter offering and paid for this morning 😀

Now just have to decide if I want the date or not, I suspect not.

And the wait begins,

I had been teasing myself with this one for a while, and today they finally made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Can't wait for the FedEx driver to get here!

Also, I had a chance to chat with the Omega wholesale rep for the store which was very cool. We discussed LE's, the 321, and he was nice enough to give me a cool Omega watch. Fun day!

I hate to wait. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.
Refreshing the tracking page several times a day doesn't help, but I do it anyway.
On the other hand, I love the OF sellers forums, even if they are the cause of much of my waiting.

Both just back from a mechanical service, I need to do something with them strap-wise and just give the crystals a polish. The Rolex was black when we found it. The tank wasn't much better. The tank has a Tavannes movement in it and a strange double hinged back which contains the movement. I have reason to believe that it is a Gruen ... does anyone know if Gruen and Tavannes had a connection in the 20's? Both are running perfectly now and the dials have come up pretty well ... I just need to decide on straps ...
Beautiful pieces! From Maxwell Cutmore’s “Watches 1850-1980” Tavannes was Swiss, not US, so Cyma and others, but not Gruen. This is not exhaustive research on my behalf though

Thanks for taking the time to look that up.

Just to be clear, another collector I know has a similar watch. The same case; same mechanism for holding the movement; same decoration; but, stamped 1930. This other example has a Rebburg (Aegler) movement in it. At that time, Rebberg had an agreement with Rolex to only supply Rolex, with the one exception of supplying Gruen for US made watches. As Rolex didn't supply other makers with cases, then my assumption is that there's some connection to Gruen. It's just a guess on my part but it intrigued me.

Almost jumped on this myself, great watch my friend! And I’m sure it was worth the wait.😉

A buckley dial DJ. These are pretty uncommon especially in the lemon dial variant so quite pleased to land one in this condition. Really like how the black Roman numerals match the handset.
