Yeah - I have two bottles, one open and my son and I are partaking of it now, and the other one still sealed. I practically stole them at $150 a bottle.

When those are gone then I have a bottle of Hakushu and a then bottle of Hibiki. When those are gone I'll dig into the Glenlivit 18, and after that the Dalwhinnie 15 will be up to bat.

There is a dealer in Japan who will ship but at stupid prices. I’ve managed to find two bottles of Nikka From The Barrel, two Hibiki...those will cover the Japanese thirst for a long while.

My collection was bigger, but last fall my dentists (father & son practice) re-did some dental work at no charge, and for Christmas I gave one of them one of my bottles of Yamazaki, and the other one of my Hakushu.

It's been a very poor few weeks in this neck of the woods. I bought this yesterday .... in the main because I was bored having not bought anything in ages!

So why am I buying a small gold watch? Well, the Jaeger style hands made me look twice at it; the movement is clean, well finished and running spot on; but mostly it's the Edinburgh assay marks.

I will identify that movement ... it's familiar. At the end of the day, it was 10 quid over scrap with a good rolled gold fix o flex. I can't decide whether or not to have the dial touched up .... I rarely do, but I'm leaning towards it with this one. It's just a pretty little 1947 gold watch that will suit some lady who lunches.
    ETA: It's a unitas 189.

Not a watch I recently acquired but, rather, a watch that was shown to me last night by the hostess of a dinner party I attended....thought it might be of some interest here. The watch, "Ruby Star", was made for the hostess's father, G. Drummond, twenty years ago or so. The case is one piece synthetic sapphire. Interesting piece. The scotch wasn't bad either.

Well may not be the most luxury watch I’ve ever bought but a classic never the less to add to my ever growing collection of Seiko friends . A Pepsi diver . Interestingly it’s for the Arabic market not European as you can see from the day window .

Just ordered this on Kickstarter. Yema Superman in brass. Ordered the 39mm and the 41mm to be delivered in Oct 2019. Limited Edition (Omega style) of 1948 for each size. Was able to pick the numbers, one for my oldest sons bday, and the other 314 for the youngest, as he is all about math (and his bday was claimed already).

Just snagged this Speedmaster Pro 3572.50 off fleaBay for my son's college graduation next spring, which should be from around 1998 as his birth year Speedy, based on it's serial number vs a few other Speedy Pro that I found from 1998.

In my searches I've seen some from 1998 that still had the Tritium dial, and some with Luminiova like this one (but I didn't have access to all the serial numbers). Ignorance is bliss, and I've convinced myself that even if it was one of the earliest ones produced with a Luminova dial in late 1997 that maybe it wasn't first sold until 1998. But I really think that 1998 is a better guess based on my research.

It was about $200 more than what I planned to spend, but still a fair price - one just sold on the forum this weekend for just $20 more (after my rejected offer which was about $220 less). It should ship from Japan via EMS before the weekend.

I plan to have it serviced before I give it to him, and then have my watchmaker install my Mitsukoshi dial and handset on it, to make him even happier (he wanted a Mitsukoshi dial Speedy more than a POLMLE or GSOTM, go figure). I also have 2 extra sets of hands to give him, to make the mod last for years to come. But who knows, if I wear my black dial Speedy more over the next year, maybe he'll come to like the original better.

I know many people believe everything made in China is of poor quality, but that has not been my experience in recent years. Some of you may be familiar with these watches with the brand name Debert. I saw one a couple of days ago, and for 60 usd, free shipping, and 10 percent eBay bucks, I figured I'd buy one to see exactly what they are about. It will likely be a gift for a nephew. They appear to be fairly well made of all SS. The movement is a very plain autowinder. Does anyone here have any first hand experience with these? Maybe I'll do a quick review if it turns out to be a decent watch. I just noticed it's a quad date. Day, date, month, year. And moon phase and chrono. How the hell can they get all that in a mechanical mvmnt?
