Here’s a watch type I normally wouldn’t even think about buying, but it was so beautiful and it had such an authentic-looking vintage style in the pre-release photos, that I had to try it out.

The quartz movement (Seiko VK63), means it’s amazingly affordable, so at the very least, a very cool beater...

It just came today, and it certainly did NOT disappoint in any single aspect (but I already knew it was meca-quartz 😁):

@dougiedude, I have been eyeing the Dan Henry Evil Panda for the last 72 hours and telling myself it was just a homage, quartz watch and to resist the temptation. That some day I would find that vintage reverse panda at a price I could afford. Now you have more than likely pushed me over the edge, as I have sold a couple of other watches and do have a bit of a cache to work from. Thank you.......I think. LOL

McK

P.S. I resisted 9 more hours, then purchased the Evil Panda version at 9 this evening. You, Sir, are the Great Enabler. I have informed my wife of your forum name and told her it was all your fault. Whatever transpires, it was completely out of my hands. ;-)

What a dial! Possibly the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Thanks! Yeah I was absolutely enamoured as soon as I saw it. You might not be able to see in those photos, but in certain lighting conditions it's very much 2 tone on the dial (see below).

Bought it as soon as I did some research to make sure it was all original! It came with an extract from the archives too, was delivered to Slovakia in 1941! (Incidentally a Nazi puppet state at the time)

Yikes 😲

Please don't tell her where I live! 😁

Addendum: As long as I ignore the fact it has a battery in there 😒 (and the hairs that always obscure the glamour shots 🙄),

I really love my 'Grand Turismo' Panda!

I left a commission bid on a bag of watches this weekend and picked them up today. Basically, a bag of Gents watches from the 1960s.
A couple of nondescript clunkers
A Kienzle that might be interesting to someone

A "Speedace" Worldtimer powered by what looks like a Baumgartner with one, whole, jewel in that pin lever set up.

(Although it does have a look to it).

Then there was a Jaquet-Droz running an AS 1951. Under all the scratches in the glass there's a very nice bright blue dial. It's definitely worth putting a glass in there and liberally sprinkling oil on the red bits ..

But here's what I was eager to own:

This is (like you all can't read!) A Jenny Caribbean 100 monobloc divers watch circa 1963. Have any of you ever seen one of these let alone had your hands on one?

Can't wait to crack her open. She runs and keeps time.

Edit to add, this is pretty much the only reference I could find to the watch online:

Ok, I’ll get the boos and hisses out the way, but a blue DJ41....jolly nice actually and love the smooth/jubilee setup.

Constellation 14900-62 SC, cal. 551
Drawer find purchased on eBay. It belonged to the seller's father who hadn't worn it in decades. Also found the proper crown that will be installed during service.

This watch is absolutely gorgeous. 👍
