1920's Elgin
Rose gold case, blued hands, sunk porcelain dial with red "12", killer crown. Just serviced it myself: new glass crystal, new mainspring, cleaned and adjusted to 6 positions, killer strap. I attached a pair of pictures from the eBay auction. This fellah just needed a bit of love and with TLC could last another 100 years.

My 1918 Longines says hi. Also needed TLC but running like a champ now.

I sent an Elgin 6s 15j movement & dial to Vortic last year to have an Heirloom watch made to match this 14k Hunter thats been in the Family since new.

They just emailed and said it won't be started 'til next year...IMHO...if they got my $$$ & accepted the commission it shouldn't take 18+ months,
My mistake lesson learned..buyer beware.

I think they are the victims of their PR push. Lesson : have the capacity to back up your marketing. Plus folks are digging their concept. I guess you need to chill and wait now. Waited more than nine months for my RGM 801 COE ...

Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer 2446SF 2nd execution, made by Heuer for the American outdoors company, with an unusual tachymeter bezel correct only on this reference. The hour subdial hand was loose and will be put back on during its inaugural service after ~45 years of use!

You are on a roll!!
😀
Unfortunately, I have to start the purge but I really don't feel like taking a boatload of photos to start the process. It's hell to be a lazy procrastinator.

you could send one to Vortec and have them make a pocket watch out of it...

that would be different

Bought this:
s-l500.jpg

The case may be refinished but the dial is gorgeous and that's the part I'll be staring at. Now to hunt down 2-3 bracelet links.

Just make a new account, drop a quick photo or two, protest you're not interested in selling and let them come to you! 😜

New acquisition: a 1948 Hamilton "Donald", 14k solid gold case, top-of-the-line "Medallion" M982 movement. I serviced the movement and is now adjusted to 6 positions with a delta of 10 seconds.

We moved into a new neighborhood that had a neighborhood garage sale. Walking around meeting the neighbors I picked this up for $50. The guy was getting rid of his watches because he had an Apple Watch. I asked if he was sure on the pricing and said he just wanted to get rid of it.

Something about this one really appealed to my idea of a perfect summer watch. This variant does not seem to age as gracefully as the more common orange and black dial counterpart. That combined with the tendency of the bakelite bezels to fade and crack over the years, it took about a year to find one in this condition. Luckily I was able to source the correct bracelet as well.

Bit of a punt at an auction; I think I overpaid a bit for it, but I'm loving the colour of the lume and the general dial colour.

It's a ~1970 PR 516 40528, with a Lemania 1873 chrono movement in there. Bracelet is one I had in my stash; it suits the watch reasonably well, but I'll keep an eye out for an original Tissot one with end links.
