A big bubbleback (ref. 6298) from 1956, near the end of the bubbleback era. Very similar in case and movement (and 3-6-9 dial configuration) to the first of the Explorers (6350, 6150), which were introduced in 1953.
Just had a great afternoon with a watch friend. This was the table after a while : In the end, I left with a new addition:
Looking through the forum this evening with my current wife and coming upon a post by a certain @Faz I received a bit of an ear bashing as to why I sold a similar piece a while back She disappears only to return a while later and I am now soon to be an owner of this beauty, forty four years together and she still never ceases to amaze me
In the end, I left with a new addition: View attachment 503295 [/QUOTE] Pjotr1, looked like a fun day with all those watches being studied. Bravo on bringing home the Airman. I have a soft spot for the watch, and that example looks really nice. Two of those black faced chronos at the top of the last group image, and positioned just to the Right of your new Airman look awfully tasty, too. Alpha: your wife is a gem...
Today I purchased Fost's lovely Mido Multi Center Chrono. This one spoke to me from the moment I saw it last Thursday Evening when it was first posted here on Private Sales. I was going to buy it that night, but thought I'd better sleep on it. The watch was on my mind all night (like Adam78) and I woke with the resolve to move ahead with it on Friday morning. I was on the road all day Friday, but made the "handshake" with Fost Friday AM from the car, and finally settled the bill with him this morning. I commented to him on the lovely carmel colored strap with cream stitching that was displayed, and how well it compliments the watch, lume and overall look of the Mido. He replied that he makes the straps ... ohh boy.. I need some of those... I believe he and I will be doing more deals in the future. It has been a pleasure dealing with him.

The black chrono’s are both from the 40s, an Olma and n Angelus. Both are not mine though .
This pretty unique Bulova from 1972 - love the whale, the horizontal markers, and the light blue seconds hand.
I picked this up from Rene. It seems more and more watches are coming to the market as NOS condition. Personally, I like my vintage watches to, you know, look vintage. The patina on this really struck me.
Needs a band that compliments the patina, dark brown pebble grain perhaps. I have one low end band that I've always liked the looks of. Its faux leather but very nicely designed and sewn. its a two toned medium brown and black. I've recently found very similar leather and fabric strap two tone bands on ebay. These seem to compliment just about any case finish ,dial color scheme and condition.
Not a watch but...... 18mm curved end links for a vintage Seiko beads of rice bracelet I picked up cheap a few weeks ago ('cause it was lacking the end links) Found them from a seller in the UK of all places. Now to find a vintage watch worthy of the band
Diantus from the 70's. Excellent external condition, needs cleaning and lubing service inside. Original band shows no visible wear. I suspect the watch was seldom if ever worn. I'll know more when it arrives.
Won this one without really trying. Shipping was near twice what I paid for the watch. It may be more than a month before it gets here. Only decent seller image is one of the movement. An old ZIM Note the very high center bridge. Looks like it was designed to be cleaned with a q-tip . The gears are very widely spaced. The deep dished case back looks more like you'd find on a self winder. just bid on it because I had to see that movement up close. It is stated to be in good running condition and keeping time.
Railroad watches!! pictures of yesterday purchases off the seller's site... 1911 Howard 19j Series 5 1888 Illinois 15j keywind, solid silver case will polish up nicely!
