1918 Elgin "Trench" with black star dial , 417 movement and black oxidized case.
I find the star-shaped minute markers really cool. There are 48 of them, representing each of the 48 states of the USA at that time.

Here's a description of the US military watch with the same dial. They drilled out holes in the dial to fit luminous material.

Nice.
I recently saw several postwar civilian versions of these for sale. They used surplus movements and dials fitted with highly engraved (likely cast) silver cases. I think they called these cushion cases.

The engraving was done in the old western style you'd see on saddles and gun belts.

Picked this up for £300, no idea about the ref, or condition as this is the best photo I was given. But does come on a nice BOR bracelet.

Incoming, it is now clearing custom at Changi Airport.

If it was at Darwin airport I would quarantine it for the prescribed 40 days 😉

Could not resist this one. Putting it in as the modern dive watch of my core collection. 1 More modern and 4 vintage to go until the core collection is done. 😎

What will the core collection consist of?
Inquiring minds want to know.
😲😉😀

I actually discussed it In this thread https://omegaforums.net/threads/one-year-on-omega-forums.62428/

But have made a couple changes. Obviously this Seiko instead of a Squale 1521, and instead of just “tritium Dial Speedy” I’m leaning towards a MK40 assuming they don’t skyrocket in price too soon.

Good choices.
Once you are seeing patients in Med school you need a proper Doctors watch.
Your specialization will guide you.
Orthopedics: PO
Radiology: something with Radium to calibrate the machines.
You get the idea what to buy next.😁

Actually I decided early on what watch I want as my commemorative “yay I’m a Doctor (and buried in debt)” watch. Two tone blue dial Globemaster. Took my breath away from day one, and has always been on my mind🥰
