Hey Paul, Ya, I lucked out again. The funny thing about this watch is that the dial is a light ivory color and the other dial is a light buff but I think both dials were originally the same. Here is the collection as a whole.

How many different colors of Companion Dials have you come across?

Besides being beautiful they have this understated elegance that those of us who love Omegas can appreciate. Nothing like in your face but you will appreciate if you are content within.

Old Seiko gs from the late 90's it's a quartz. I needed a beater as a grab and go watch this one will serve that purpose.

Bought last week, a very rare Hamilton Byrd from about 1932. This was one of the "Explorer" series of watches with the new rectangular cal. 401 (adapted from the Illinois caliber 207), and featured a hand-made 14K case. Only 250 or so were produced in yellow gold. Retail price was very high in the midst of the Depression, $150.

Sandy came in from the garden with it in his mouth?? 馃榿

Along with wrist bones and Jimmie Hoffa's medic alert bracelet.

That Hamilton is a real beauty..

I've noticed most modern watches that mimic this styling turn out to be the size of Dick Tracy's wrist radio. I guess they just stuff a standard movement into a rectangular casing.

Hello everyone. I am wicked excited and happy to announce that I have made my first purchase from a member of the forum. I bought this Constellation from Norman tonight. Norman was a true gentleman to deal with and I appreciate his time while I figured out how to use Paypal friends and family option. I am doing the dance of joy and agonizing while I wait down by the mailbox all at the same time. ::psy::::psy::馃榾馃榾馃榾. And.here is my purchase:

I can't wait to wear it in March to the Father/Daughter Dance with my 12 year old daughter. I have been taking her since she was 4 and it is one of our traditions. Thank you again, Norman! (and thank you to this forum)

McK

Another Seiko in the works the deal on the GS I posted above fell through. So I hunted for another and found this one cosmetically challenged and non working the price was good. Since I want a beater this one fits the bill.

I checked the Seiko repair web site a complete overhaul on the 9f82 is just over 300 bucks. That includes new gaskets, pressure testing, and cleaning of the case and bracelet.

If all works out I will have less than 500 in the watch. Late 90's Seiko not running is more than just a battery change. I would be amazed that a new battery would make it run again. The chances for that to happen are slim and next to none.

I have all the equipment to refinish the watch and bracelet. I'll wait on the refinishing and see what it takes to get it running. I enjoy playing around project watches. Sometimes I can be my own worst enemy. My thoughts are sending the watch back to Seiko is my best bet.

Pulled the trigger on this vintage Hamilton (picture from the original listing). The listing wasn鈥檛 very descriptive but my research tells me it鈥檚 a 1968 Hamilton Lancaster FF. Solid 14k white gold case, bezel decorated with 24 diamonds and an original list price of $400 (making it the most expensive model that year)!

Just picked this one up, being shipped should get it soon.
Not a great watch but it has a certain charm.

I probably paid less than it cost when new. If I can't get it working its still a nice cheap addition to the herd and a conversation piece.
It would fit between my Ingraham dollar pocket watch and my U S Time Zorro watch. The low tech tier.

Sold non working but the movement looks complete and sound. Hopefully cleaning and lubing is all it needs.
The case back shows no scaring, It may never have been serviced and just froze up over the years from hardened lubes.

Update ITS ALIVE!!!!

Soon as I opened the back the balance started slowly moving. I put a drop of lighter fluid on the back of the movement and within a few seconds the watch started ticking over very strongly.
I'll let it run till it winds down then make plans on how to proceed.
The movement is a rather primitive and sturdy one, descended from mantle clocks and throwaway dollar pocket watches. Not sure if I should strip it down or just try to work some modern watch lube into or onto the moving parts.
May just finish cleaning it up and hang it up for display only.
The band is a Boy's size battleship grey pigskin from the look of it.
The same case and movement was used as Gents, Ladies and Boy's watches, only band and finish being different with some variation in the face treatment. The face of this one is a silvery grey, in excellent condition and clean.

PS
Price was the princely sum of $10 with free shipping.
