Not all chronographs though.. also got this 1968 Grand Seiko manual high beat 4522-8000 with quickset date. This one was at the watchmaker for servicing, just go it back. Running like a dream 馃槑

Lovely Grand Seikos! Is the amplitude of 198 degrees after the service and with the movement fully wound?

Hey thanks @COYI! The photos of the 2 watches were taken after servicing, both were only partially wound. I have read that (vintage) Seikos typically have lower amplitudes of between 180-230 degrees, not sure how true that is. However, all my vintage GS's, especially the high-beat automatic models, (61GS movements) also have amplitudes within that range after servicing. Except for my low-beat 44GS, which has amplitude of 290 degrees.

I also read that vintage Seiko watches often have relatively low amplitudes. I have quite a few vintage seikos in my collection, including three King Seikos. I haven't needed to have one serviced yet so I was interested in how yours turned out.
You must be spoilt for choice at the moment with all those recent arrivals. Once you get bitten by the vintage bug there's no turning back 馃榾

Longines Ultra-Chron Chronometer ref. 8355-1 cal. 431, about 1968.

The case seems sharp and the dial appears clean. The brushed finish looks amazing. This is my first Longines, first C-case and first chronometer. Can't wait for the postman to get here with this one.

Thanks! If I can find a Longines mesh bracelet that came with it I'll have a grand slam.

So I found this 19mm brown custom strap I made that I have no use for since its such an odd size. I ended up picking one of these off amazon at a great price. Problem solved!

Looks very nice. I might resurrect mine with a strap like that

Got these in the last two weeks there both out for a service now. The watch fund is now used up for a few years.

@COYI I always get my vintage watches serviced soon after they arrive, for peace of mind, I suppose. Especially the high-beats, the parts tend to wear out faster. The watchmaker I go to is an expert on Seikos, and his charges are very reasonable (<$50), so it's a no-brainer for me. For the chronographs I have them serviced at another place.

Yeah, I have been bitten by the vintage bug - hard. Can't even stand looking at modern pieces these days... (not that they are not good, of course!) 馃檮

Picked up another Indian Refurb Fortis from the same seller I got one from recently.
The first has been on my wrist daily and has not lost or gained a second in the past week so I figured I'd get another as a spare. One has black dial the other age ivory, one day time the other for low light. Otherwise nearly identical.

I know Indian refurbs are a crapshoot but hopefully my luck will hold and I wear these where I would not wear my better watches.

Also just minutes ago I bought an NOS FHF movement. in the factory transfer case for 10 bucks shipped. Don't have any urgent need for it right now but you can't beat that price at Cas Walkers.
If one of my beater watches gives up the ghost I can mount this movement in that case.

Wish my Seamaster Deville had not gotten beat up from everyday use. Still its worth restoring.

Not sure whether this is the correct thread to post this...

I just purchased 2 main springs on the Bay, one for the Valjoux 773x series and the other for the Valjoux 72 family of movements. For back up in case I need them for future servicing...

does this one have a story?
Picked it up from a Egypt dealer, no story mate. Otherwise I doubt I鈥檒l be the current owner of it if it carries any story
