I know what you mean... most of my watchmaking mistakes result in new tool purchases. Bittersweet for sure. I acquired my own soldering iron after just such a catastrophe, but have yet to use it.
Nice, congrats mate! They've got an excellent bracelet on those, tried one out recently with the micro adjust clasp
Hi again... i had to buy this bracelet... from the seller "This is a good original condition used Gay Freres Gentlemans 20mm braclet for the Buren Waterman sports model of watch, the braclet needs a clean and polish but remarkably is 100% original and nothing is broken and missing. these were hugeley expensive braclets when new and challenging to use daily so people often lost the originals and now they are hard to find as any Gay freres braclet is because they are arguably the best made supplying Rolex and patek over the years with braclets as well as many other companys. This was found with an original moement for a Waterman that had the case lost by a glass company going to the wall many decades ago. Good braclet and now hard to find like this. Sold with No-reserve. This comes from an interesting old estate clearance of a watchmaker that had many wonderful items in it years ago now. Please look at the images as they form an important part of the description, selling these at No reserve" Ok the seller states its has 20 mm ends, I bet it was not, and I was correct it actually just a hair over 19mm.... The build quality that is second to none... but i need to find a watch that I could use it on. I do not have Buren and been looking at Buren watches but none with 19 mm curved ends... I also have a few Compressor designed cases some 32 , 34 and the "jumbo" vrtsion measuring at 36 mm with 19 mm lugs! so with out any further distraction... Ok found a watch that it fits pretty well... see for yourself... Next I might try it on a Zenith if i can find ends pieces that would fit the band, maybe since its GF made might have a shot at the ends from the 18mm ladder style.. Good Hunting Bill Sohne
Soon, this strap and that watch will be wed. And, I'm pretty psyched Put a little labor of love into this one - enough that she'll be my brown daily wearer.
Nice snag Bill! I gave up hope of snagging one that's mismarked on eBay. It seems ALL the Hamilton guys have searches set up to seek out these from sellers who don't know they're platinum.
Hi i bought mine from a friend and he knew what it Is. Trade a few watches and some cash... done and no regrets. Now need to find a vintage grey shell Coravan strap long and in grey ! best bill
From a bit closer... I'd pass on that one, clearly refinished, and missing the original wheels. There are better examples out there, be patient.
Just got my first Zenith, not to large but a bit on the heavy side for wrist attire Out of the box and it's running like a champ.
