Two sweet little pieces were added today .... a Savoie with a copper coloured dial, really sweet track and font, blued hands and an incorrect crown that, so far, is running to the second with nothing more than a wind .... Anyway, the reason I bought this was because it was in a lot with something else ... The movement doesn't bear any numbers that I can see but the movement is similar to Rolex movements that date to around 1914. Rolco itself was incorporated in 1927 and my guess is this is one of their first models. The caseback is stamped with the model number 3721. Such a sweet little watch with some real presence. The dial's lovely - the marks showing in the photo are all on the crystal. If anyone can throw any light on either watch, please, let me know.
Maybe you should take a driver's licence, and buy a truck to carry all of your findings? Myself I haven't bought anything this year. Last buy was a brown Speedy 145.022 before Christmas.....
Went for a wander around some antique centres today looking at furniture for the new house. Some watches caught my eye, in one of the cabinets and ended up coming away with this Geneve 166.0118 c.1972. Nice onyx inlaid original dial. Seems pretty unpolished and even the crystal has the old logo. The nice BoR was a bonus and is in great condition. It's not a style I usually go for, but I haven't bought a watch for a few months and well, you know. I'll have to see how I get on with it.
A drivers licence vould take away all the fun of travelling, remember your chocolate speedy from this thread a beauty.
The Elgin isn't new, but since I dropped it I got to buy a balance staff and a pinion/staff for the second hand and I think I just made a payment on my watchmakers Benz. Oh well so I bought a bunch of straps to make it all better!
Yes exactly!! I got her this Rolex last summer so I had a lot of ground to play around this year lololol
I broke two of my rules with my acquisition today, but I was offered the watch a price that I could not really pass on. It was fully services recently (in the picture is the actual movement), including a new mainspring, has new glass and gaskets. Runs perfectly and I figured that it will make a nice watch for weekends with a nice history behind it and an honest face.
I had been looking for a nice Type 21 at an honest price for quite some time now, and this just came into my possession today. I couldn't be happier, it is spectacularly good looking and a great military watch, all original. Have some family in Besançon so I have a little connection with it right away
Following up on my last post. The watch came in from Serbia. Great packing although it did come with a potent cigarette smell. It is as I had hoped: in excellent unpolished condition. Very happy!
