It seems you're not familiar with what a crystal lift is so I agree is best to have a watchmaker look at it instead of messing with your watch.

You're certainly not wrong about lack of watchmakers tools, but I enjoy learning. Maybe best to ask via PM.

Yes, I believe it to be a monoque case. I don't have a crystal wrench or lift so I was contemplating trying the air pressure pop. This would most likely have a split stem that I would need to remove first....I think. Maybe I'll just wait until tomorrow when I go see my WM.
The marking of the caseback gives it away. "use all proof 1280 wrench"...
Split stem and air pump is the way to go. Without the air pump to pop the crystal a "crystal lift" is next in line of "weapons of choice".

Looks promising! Good luck!馃憤

The lift may or may not remove the crystal only. Both the air and the lift will not work on an Omega monocoque steel case in good condition. Then you'd still need to remove the bezel with the tool I suggested, and the crown, before the dial & movement can come out.

PS: from the Longines Admiral monocoque cases I've seen, the bezel had to come out as well to remove the movement.

On the way .... Is there such a thing as rehab for watch addiction?

Yes, get into a more expensive hobby like boating or wine. 馃榿

Thanks guys but I've decided to take a break from this Forum. On the whole, I've met very nice people and I've had a great time, but there also seems to me a current stream of negativity which is not appreciated. Not every watch is perfect, that I know. But when I rescue a watch, like this Seamaster, that was going to be traded, and perhaps ultimately scrapped for gold value, just appreciate it for what it is. I also got criticism for one of my Constellations Because it had a repainted dial. So what, it's 60 years old. I didn't buy it for its dial, I bought it because it had Cal 501 which was missing from my collection.

Anyway, I presented the watch as it is, I did not request information before purchasing, I bought it to enjoy. It's not a fake and I may send it to Bienne for restoration or maybe I won't.

Anyway - that's my beef and thanks for the good times!

My wife actually mentioned this same thing to me the other day from some wives group that she is a part of online. Every few days one of the girls will make a big speech about how she doesn't need the negativity in her life and say that she is done with the group. Only to reappear online a few days later, lurking in the background to see if anybody commented on how right she was and to see if anyone missed her.

You're giving him what he wants. The more we comment on his departure the less likely he is to go.

Annoying but rather entertaining, don't you think? At least it provides a break from those Speed hoarding brouhaha 馃榿
