Thanks guys but I've decided to take a break from this Forum. On the whole, I've met very nice people and I've had a great time, but there also seems to me a current stream of negativity which is not appreciated. Not every watch is perfect, that I know. But when I rescue a watch, like this Seamaster, that was going to be traded, and perhaps ultimately scrapped for gold value, just appreciate it for what it is. I also got criticism for one of my Constellations Because it had a repainted dial. So what, it's 60 years old. I didn't buy it for its dial, I bought it because it had Cal 501 which was missing from my collection.

Anyway, I presented the watch as it is, I did not request information before purchasing, I bought it to enjoy. It's not a fake and I may send it to Bienne for restoration or maybe I won't.

Anyway - that's my beef and thanks for the good times!

Nice case and nice movement, but wrong dial and hands unfortunately. Dial's gonna be tough to find.

Looks like a nice solid gold bracelet also. And movement is cal. 354 chronometer which is correct for the jumbo 2494 case, not 342.

Hey, I just tell it like it is, no negativity meant at all. If you think it's negative, nobody forbids you from protesting it. But if you think pointing out the truth is a negativity, it's tough. I have no obligation to heave praise in public on whatever you buy (even though I did on the nice parts). It's your money so spend whatever way you want, it has nothing to do with me (actually, I don't care, honestly).

See nothing negative here, would thank someone for the knowledge given. If you knew this you could have stated it in your post.

Beautiful , I have the same model.

It really is a nice looking watch and the small size I prefer. And the GMT is implemented in such a simple way.

The dial is more towards grey than blue, although it appears somehow dark blue in certain light angles

What is the current strap that you have on it now? I'm looking for a black croc leather and I like the black with black stitching you have there.

The one on the watch now is an Omega OEM croc I got from @yinzerniner . I bought a couple of straps to fit the Omega deployant clasp from http://stores.ebay.com/magicstrap/ Although these eBay straps are relatively inexpensive, the fit on the Omega clasp was perfect and the strap construction seems very robust. Here's the other I got for the FOIS https://omegaforums.net/threads/wruw-today.567/page-2078#post-432322

BTW, MagicStrap carries the black on black croc style you are looking for...

That's a beaut @Hijak thanks for the moment of therapy. 馃憤 The one I took a chance on appears to be like one @Spike posted several months ago. Here's to hoping the blemishes around the dial are just grime and not water. 馃槦
(Photo cred: @Spike from WRUW 2015)

It's here! I think it's going to turn out well, the crystal is an absolute mess it's still hard to see how much age the dial shows. I wish I had a crystal lift to see the dial clearly and what's inside!
The nicely patinated spring bars are for sale....if anyone was interested. 馃槈

I think the dial looks great with a just little ageing around the edge. To open you need a case knife. Looks like the lift is useful, but not needed, to replace the crystal, but there seems to be no crack so you can just polish it a bit.

A case knife to remove the bezel? Would the crystal pull out then? Hmmm....I may have a case knife around here.

Yes, something like this is preferable to a knife, or you can get a bezel opening tool. A crystal lift cannot help with the bezel. It doesn't look like you need to remove the bezel for anything, unless you want to clean the dirt or rust underneath. (Does the watch open through the front?)

Yes, I believe it to be a monoque case. I don't have a crystal wrench or lift so I was contemplating trying the air pressure pop. This would most likely have a split stem that I would need to remove first....I think. Maybe I'll just wait until tomorrow when I go see my WM.

It seems you're not familiar with what a crystal lift is so I agree is best to have a watchmaker look at it instead of messing with your watch.
