Could you tell a little about the "Practical Watch Repairing" one? I have the same book, but in a print from 1947!
@ConElPueblo sorry for the delay in the response but I've not had the time to browse through it yet. Will do a separate post when I get a chance. Not near as classic as your 1947 version. Cheers, Mark

Fully agree on the bracelet. I assume it is an old mans thing. Seen loads of watches from estate sales / first hand with those nasty metal things.
I find them a good sign that it has not seen too many dealers or fixers earlier.
😀

^^ this is very accurate and excellent "@inside tip" for people new to the vintage game.

[emoji115] This. I totally agree with that statement. It's really shocking to me how many beautiful vintage watches I've bought that were on that same "2 buck chuck" stretchy bracelet. I literally have a Ziploc bag full of them at this point bc for some odd reason I won't throw them out.

Granted, my own inherited from a great uncle 18K Helvetia (1st vintage watch that started the sickness) came on a crap speidel stretchy, so I suppose I was forewarned of what was to come...

Lol apropos of:

I had given my son a Citizen (rich!) Newmaster a couple of years ago and earlier tonight he asked me if I had a metal bracelet for his watch ...a voilà !!!!!

I quietly laughed to myself and told him...I've just what you need, son!!

Like you, I've a ziplock bag full of mostly Speidel stretchers harvested from DAD WATCHES.

*edit - now that I really look at the citizen, I realize she looks really good with a metal bracelet - gives the watch a cool heavy metal look.

That's true. I got the following watch on one of these (here on a goatskin strap). I had to cut it through, as somebody used unremovable spring bars to mount it ... :

I actually are cutting these off relatively often. The reason is that the spring bars are often rusted solid, and instead of scratching the lugs further in a futile attempt to remove the shit, I rather bring forth the cutting pliers.😗

Another Lemania.... Cal 5012 (I assume). Ref 11019.
::psy::

I have a similar (same case), but cal 5100. Maybe you, as being the Forum´s undisputed Lemania-expert 😀, can explain the difference(s)?

Lemania 5012 has a lower beat rate of 21'600A/h as opposed to the higher beat rate of 28'800A/h of Lemania 5100. You can actually hear the difference if you listen to each watch one by one. Caliber 5100 also has a 24hr sub-register. I'm sure Northernman can elaborate further in detail.
