Finally have a real Oceanographer (not the reissue)- yes, somebody said SNORKEL!!

Thanks to @hmmmcamu for walking me through some issues that killed my joy at first (and made me want to cry). Factory JBC Bullet bracelet is borrowing a few links from a Kreisler at the moment until I can find the correct links, but it's on the wrist and keeping near perfect time!

    FYI
BEZEL CLICK SPRING for the Oceanographer Snorkel ... these can be crafted by a competent watch maker if necessary

That's what many watchmakers say when you bring them an Accutron ;)

This is a duplicate thread as this may be a better location... I’ll ask a mod to delete the original in the main forum...

This oddity turned up in the post this morning, and despite all my efforts the closest I can find is a single example of seemingly the same model but in a different colorway. A thread on that watch describes it as being pretty rare, which given it’s the only one I can find may actually be true for once.

Can I ask if there if anyone here has ever seen this specific model before, and any recommendations for EU based watchmakers who can service a cal. 2185.

Sorry for the quick and dirty photos...

And here’s the similar one I found...

And interesting to see that it’s probably a singer dial (based on this one from a completed eBay listing)...

Very neat looking watch. There are a couple from '69ish on eBay right now but those are a bit different. The Singer dial doesn't surprise me as Bulova used them for the Oceanographer dials and other models I'm sure.
Looking forward to what any of our resident Accutron experts can tell us as this seems to be during the last gasp for Bulova.

Having a soft spot for the obscure, I recently picked up this 1942 Bulova as part of an auction lot. It is a mono-pusher chronograph with the pusher integrated in the crown. It is powered by Bulova's in-house 10AH movement, which was produced for only two years, 1941-1942. The Ranfft movement database claims the 10AH to be the "smallest diameter for a serial-produced chronograph" (10.5''', Dm=23.3mm). From period advertisements, Bulova appears to have used the 10AH in both its "Stop Watch" and "Medico" models. Aside from the case being tarnished and the original strap rotted when I received it, it is in surprisingly good condition and cleaned up nicely using only a jeweler's cloth. It is keeping very accurate time and the chronograph works flawlessly. Happy hunting!

That is a stellar example, I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. A great watch!

Is that for real? I tried that trick with my daughter's ukelele tuner, but it wasn't able to pick up the tone. I could have done something wrong.

Where did you send it? I just got an f300 back from Rob B. Working with him was great. The Thai mail service was not so great, but Rob tracked everything done and did magic on the watch. He had to rebuild one of the coils. That and a service was all under $200.
