Any love for 9pm date windows / 930 Movement - Deville 146.017?

I wanted a vintage 930 movement and this was a cost-effective solution. The 9pm date window is a talking point and a few people have complimented me on the watch. Due to the size and finish I tend to wear it as a dress watch, but equally the chronograph is a useful complication. I struggled to capture the dial but it really catches the light and wearing this one always puts a smile on my face. I also wanted a vintage Deville so it ticked all the boxes for me.

I took a plunge and imported this 1970 watch from Ecuador a few years back. It needed a bit of work / it has been a journey, but everything did check out and buying from further afield has usually worked out well for me (fairly honest sellers and the price savings help fund service work etc). The watches are usually in the same or better state compared to what I get from UK and Europe.

I too am a huge fan of date windows at 9; they should be more common.

These Omega 146.017s are fantastic; I find they wear a little on the small size, oddly (I mostly wear 34-35mm Seamasters), but they're stunning watches—and, incredibly, they've stayed basically flat value-wise for years now; one sold a day or two back for $3600 or so, all-in, USD, which is bananas given its condition and rarity. Here, it was this one:

FWIW, there's a rare Bucherer variant, which has a rotating bezel; I don't know of any other chronos with dates at 9 like this, though maybe that speaks more of a failure of my own attention. Here's the only example I know of available at the moment:

That Bucherer has great Patina - I have not seen that type before. I do like the 146.017 in steel as well. I think the 146 watch just got overshadowed by the Bullhead. I think some may even have been cannibalised for the movement which is a crying shame.

What’s not to love about these incredible DeVille’s. I love this one with its stunning blue dial, date aperture brilliantly repositioned on the left and of course in house cal.930 movement! - 1969 Omega DeVille Ref.146.017 - cal.930

I know I'm a bit behind the times on this thread, but I've just also taken the plunge on one of these at auction. I've not received mine as yet, but from the research I've done and pictures I've seen they are stunning looking pieces. I'm suprised that they're not more popular and can't wait to get mine.
For anyone interested, here is a brilliant write up on beauties.

Difficult to tell from the pictures, but the dial on mine looks in pretty decent shape, and I'm hoping that means that the watch has been kept well. The case looks like it could be a bit better, so I'll have to wait and see if it's just tarnishing or if the plate has actually rubbed off. I'm hoping it's the former. I'm really impressed with the polishing of the case on yours, but a little concerned about polishing a plated finish. Did you do it yourself, or did you have it done with the work? I'd also be interested to hear about any problems you had and how easy it was to get the watch brought back to working order. Thanks

A new thread has started since this one. I think that will cover your questions.
Thanks for the Fratello link.
