Very curious what the general opinion is on the forum.

I found the Trilogy Speedmaster to be a very attractive piece even with the faux patina. The size is perfect, the bezel is elegant and is the first DON in many many years, the dial color is rich, the bracelet is extremely nice. I just really like it.

Anyway, the Apollo 11 50th model is cool in concept, but for some reason the Trilogy model tugs at my heart a little more.

What do you all think??

Take what follows as a very new member opinion...
If I don't look at the $ question... I would say that the 50th is a wonderful watch .... when you already have the iconic ones...
So to me, it depends on the collection you already have... I am fond of mythic ones... broad arrow... 321... then 861 tritium.... LE from 80's and 90's... Apollo-Soyuz meteorite... white dials.... The 50th one is a brilliant one, a real jewel, maybe a little bit "far away" from my idea of a moonwatch... So I think I agree with you... Go for Trilogy !

I tend to agree the 3861 movement in the AP11 50th is so far removed from a moonwatch, it was a deal breaker for me. The 1861 / 861 and 321 were original space watches and that is what I wanted.

Whatever looks best to you is what is important....if the Trilogy rocks your boat, go for it!

Nothing wrong with the Trilogy Speedy. It just depends on what you like. I have a Trilogy, and elected to pass on an Apollo 11, but not everyone likes the same things.

Agreed. The trilogy works for me to even if they over did the faux-tina.

I really want to like these but somehow it just looks a bit...Tinny

Broad arrow hour Hand on a Chrono is nonsense from a readability perspective.

The trilogy is effing beautiful. Apollo 11 50th, not so much.

The Trilogy Speedmaster just doesn’t do it for me, even though the Railmaster and Seamaster are absolute must-haves for me. My vote here goes to the Fifty

Both of the subject watches have their plusses and minuses .... it really comes down to personal preference. Just like there is no right choice as to whether a blonde, brunette or redhead is the best.....it all depends on what they look like to your eyes and how they fit with your personality. These 'which one is best' threads are always tedious.

I own both and for me, I like the Apollo 11 way more. Especially the bracelet front. The 60th anniversary tried to copy the vintage bracelet styling, but it was still way too thick. That Apollo 11, however, got it right.

Although I don’t wear my 60th that much, I do love the historical perspective of having the first speedmaster and the one that commemorates the milestone of the moon landing.

All good comments!

To be clear: there are no wrong answers here so not trying to encourage a debate, per se; merely wish to have a collection of critiques of both pieces in one place for our enjoyment 😀

I sincerely enjoy my standard Speedmaster, but still lust after many others. Fortunately, watches don't demand fidelity the same way my lady does 😁

And Eugene is right, I should've posted some pictures but didn't want to rip off anyone's photos!

Would LOVE for anyone with either or both pieces to keep posting some pics for us 😀
