Railmaster Aquaterra vs Trilogy

Hello,

I am thinking to get a railmaster as my office watch in the new year. There is the aqua terra line of railmaster which is great but also the trilogy version. In term of price point they are not too far off and both are METAS certified. I really like the aqua terra line but I see the trilogy one as nearer to the original. Which one would you go for? Any opinion would be much appreciated.

Personally, I’d go trilogy as I think it’s a classier watch. That said, try it on. The lugs are quite long on the trilogy and shorter on the other, so best to see what you like the look of best.

Crystal: Trilogy
Clasp: Trilogy
Case back (comfort): Trilogy
Dial: Draw
Case (form and finish): Trilogy

So on balance I would say

Globemaster😝

I'm partial to the trilogy myself, but it's a matter of what feels and looks better in the end; there's no wrong choice on this one.

I like both but I'm not into patina'ed lume (or in the case of the trilogy mock patina) I'd sway more towards the newest railmaster with white markers if it weren't for the denim dials. I actually like everything about the newest RM's....... they just aren't for me. My vote is for the AT version but since I own one I may be biased.

Much prefer the Trilogy to the denim RM. Between the RMAT (MART, or TRAM via anagram?) I'd still go with the Trilogy for its more interesting case and profile and that stunning domed crystal, but it would be a closer-run thing.

As an owner of the RM trilogy--it's my favorite watch by FAR, I just find it stunning--I am biased for sure. And I really like the look of the AT Railmaster. But please correct me if I am wrong/misremembering, but isn't it the case that the AT RM has basically no anti-magnetic properties? Granted, in real life I don't have much need for that feature. But my OCD means I have a fundamental "problem" with a watch called a Railmaster essentially being just about the way it looks rather than any of its "features." Based on the history of the name and the whole purpose of it from the jump, it's janky to me that they would have made a RM without it being anti-mag.

So with this mentality, shouldn't you need to work for the railroad to own/wear this watch? And I believe you are correct on the lack of anti magnetism. The AT version was clearly just a nod to the original in terms of looks because the days of needing a railroad specific watch are long gone.

I would say if you can try both on try them on first. Also you gonna wear it primarily on a strap or bracelet?

Reason I say that I have the 42mm 2500 AT that shares the bracelet. When I bought my AT it was gonna be my second watch with my Sub so I already went into it that it was gonna be on a strap 90% of the time. Well wearing on a bracelet for a week while my strap came it made it now a 100% of the time strap. I hated the old butterfly clasp it was very uncomfortable. I sold the bracelet as I was never gonna wear it. That’s just my opinion and my wrists opinion lol.

I’m not one for yellow patina’d lume. However these do look stunning. Personally, for an office watch, I’d go for something thinner with a slimmer case profile.

The original Railmaster had nothing to do with railroads but high magnetic fields, such as you'd find in power plants where the conductors are called "rails" because they are a similar size and shape.

Omega should bring out a rail master strike version to commemorate what’s happening with the rail network in the uk

So basically a Railmaster a striking worker can afford? Plenty of those on Canal street... lol.

I didn’t know that either. I swear one of the large watch internet sites on their reviews mentioned railway workers too. The electric fields being rails makes more sense
