Well, as emeister wrote, the title of the auction states Speedmaster so it wasnt that much of a secret. 馃槈
But Ebay changed the search rules since a couple of years.
Earlier you could do a worldwide search and every item was available, even the ones that wont ship to foreign
countries.
Nowadays, even if i do a worldwide search, i only get the ones that offer worldwide shipping.
This also includes this new ebay squeeze the buyers pocket shipping program, which states that it will ship to Germany, but when i want to bid, it shows a shipping restriction error and it does not allow me to. 馃が馃槙

Well, if someone from here ends up with it, be sure to post a follow-up in this thread. Fingers crossed for you that the movement is in decent shape and matches up. It's about to get pretttttty rich in that virtual auction room.

looks like a speedmaster 2998-61in fairly good condition.
with the wrong movement number the value drops a lot

no matter, it's a barn find,
it will go for 120% of value. lol
Why is that always the case with these listings with few photos and little details 馃槈

Well if it is a 2998-61 then the next bid takes it to 110% of the Good rating on Speedmaster101's price guide.
One bidder chipping away (personally, my least favourite bidding style) in the last few hours from US$3,050 to US7,602.

Once again, it is at least entertaining.
Good luck to any potential bidders. I bet the seller is happy. Wonder how much he picked this for.

Hopefully the winner is happy when it's opened up. That's not a price that will allow a quick flip.

I'm also still a little miffed about why the seller couldn't attach more pictures upon request.

Pray tell, based on the minimalist photos, what made you think it was a 6, as opposed to a -61???

Heck, even if they are not happy, there is the return option.

Spend $300 getting the DIY engraving removed and I don't see why it would not go for a similar amount next time around.

Ok, so what's the consensus of all the Speedy lovers/experts here? is this one worth the $9K or it did it go for 120% of its value?

I think your % might be a bit off.
Over priced? Seems that is getting difficult to tell these days.
Just wonder whether lazer welding and polishing will be able to totally get rid of that god forsaken engraving.

I won't call myself an "expert" but I'd say if you clean the crystal and took pictures of it in the correct lighting (and verify / show the movement in good condition), then it's probably worth about what was paid. The lume is gorgeous and hands match as well, which is big. And as noted above, it should be able to get a similar value if it was sold in the near term.

I think we won't know for sure unless we see whats inside. I hope the winning bidder is from this forum so he can post more pictures of it.
