Back to the point of this thread- Hamilton released their Pioneer Navy several years ago in 3 variations based on size- each is slightly different. The form factor is one of large dial, coin edge bezel, and wire “style” lugs. This style lends itself to smaller proportions as it’s all case and dial and no lugs to lend mass.

The 36mm was marketed as a ladies watch when it was released- its since been discontinued. This is the perfect proportions for this watch, regardless of gender. There is a balance on the dial- even with the date window (would have been stunning without it) and it’s just right on so many levels.

The 40mm is awkwardly large, the 3 and date window look crowded, the sub-dial too small and too high. They were trying to balance out the dial real-estate but it’s just too large.

The 43mm is just clownish. They were trying to accommodate the large watch trend, but just missed the mark by a mile. This thing should be hanging in the kitchen.

I believe certain watch styles lend themselves to specific scale and proportion- it’s about balance. Gender is all about marketing- not design.

Politics is obviously something we all differ on, i'd be happy to discuss watches again to be honest, at least we find a common ground there

Surely none, though I believe the "society uncomfortableness" is rather the other way around...

Society has no problems for girls wearing "boyfriend's jeans"... It is fashionable. I haven't seen any trends for men wearing "mum's jean" or "girlfriend's jean".

It is indeed a sale pitch, to sell more watches (to women)... It doesn't seem they are trying to pitch ladies watches to men.

Does this mean the daughter will finally be able to buy jeans with pockets that aren't a joke?

They only need 75% of the pocket space considering they are paid 25% less.

One reason many of them prefer boy friends with deep pockets.

I think Kleenex are going one ply further and bringing out a special 5 ply tissue in a breast-pocket sized pack, designed to soak up woke tears, because those tears really take some mopping up

A breast-pocket !? .... had to look that one up 😗
Nope, don’t own any of those.

City slickers...... 🤦
(I had one that had never seen a Ringer belt when I was in Sydney a few weeks ago had the knife out due to airport security and he asked what I keep in there. Might have to say tissues next time 😜😜)

Brilliant, i had to look up a Ringer belt, handy thing to have if you like camping and regularly need to use a small knife for cleaning game or stripping leaves etc, i think the buckle is perhaps a bit too sturdy and would snap the delicate wrists of some, or scare them away reaching for a 5-ply kleenex

Are you slow? They pulled the political posts from the thread including almost all of yours and your right back at it.

This kind of discussion... From either perspective, knee-jerk responses tend to hurt any real discourse. BUT, as to the above, I will say: cyclic trends.
When I was in high school, dudes typically wore 34mm to 36mm. This was the late 80s, Fossil LEs were all the rage, on the heels of Swatch. And chicks' watches were like freaking sundials. Everything was kinda hammy. Bigger hair, shoulder pads, etc... Bigger watches made sense.
This stuff...Well, they're just rebranding an old trend with clickbait-y marketing, and it seems to be working better than, "Wear a watch like yer mom did".
My two cents on pigeon holing genders ( since you asked - winky emoji ) -
Guys think they can buy into manliness - I'm looking at you, Gear Patrol - without earning the ...je ne sais quoi, that granddaddy had.
Every guy secretly loves a really real can-do girl. But you're not a really real can-do girl just because you drive a Jeep and wear a men's watch.
Those guys and girls are all the same, so they may as well be marketed to like they are.

you said “chicks” and now I have to sell my Jeep!!

We don’t do politics here, it gets in the way of watch discussions and ruins friendships. If you want to get into that Facebook and Twitter are where you should take it and that really does apply to everyone. Nobody comes here wanting to know your political views.
