An interesting item in today’s Times that says that a company, Great British Supermarine Ltd is seeking investors to fund a project to produce replica Spitfires. The estimated price of one of these is £750,000 significantly less than an actual vintage model.

This is the replica

Interesting. Will it be a 1:1 scale? And what's the powerplant going to be? Will the Rolls Royce Merlin be resurrected, just like Omega resurrected the Calibre 321?

Put me down for 2 of them, I'll need a spare for Sunday driving!

Seriously though, what took them so long for someone to see that hole in the market.

I would not mind a mosquito ...

Even during the war the all wood (sans Merlin engines.) were being built in garages. Made it hard to bomb the factories.

Edit: I bought the book. The plans are online. Also all the Merlin engineering documents, even how to treat the parts with crushed walnut shells. Sadly the person selling 1/4 replica castings is out of stock.
