My Ed White came back to me a year ago for a little under £4K, which is roughly what I sold it for.

The bargains are still there, BIN 105.012 went through eBay less than 6 weeks ago for $995! That said it went in under two minutes and not to me, I missed it by 10 seconds

The other thing that the current situation had caused is an insurgence of people leaping in after your brought something and taking out from under you. Example

I brought a really nice serviced LCD moon watch three weeks ago, won it fair and square at auction and then it was 'lost on the train' on the way to post it to me!........... Uh huh........Sigh. Never mind! I know I'm not the only OF member who's had the rug pulled out from under him

Oi, thats nasty. Didnt even think that could/would happen. I would not be happy camper for sure. I saw that 105 posted on here in the discussion thread. There were few other bargains in last several weeks, but like I said while I was trying to do research, it was already gone, or they were posted while I was sleeping in the middle of the night (no surprise really)

Sold for US$30,000 with offers up to US$40,000. Thought it may be worth putting up some photos of the 2998-6 for sale. Also comes with no.6 end links and a stretched 7912 by the looks of it.

Probably clean up quite nicely but the price is eye-watering. Seems like there is no stopping the rise of Speedmaster prices.

This will be a killer watch once cleaned/serviced and most important a polished crystal will unveil the beauty of the dial

Send it to Omega for service. When they are done, it will be like a brand new watch.... ::stirthepot::

All I want is to be able to find one speedy with stepped dial that I dont have to mortgage my house to pay for. I understand that for a lot of sellers this is business, and their goal is to make as much money as they can, but it drives me insane when I know what they paid for a watch, and then see it listed for 200%+ markup. I missed out on 1 watch (well 2) by couple of minutes, and now they are listed for double the price person paid. Yes, it goes back to what people will pay and all that, but I just get jaded knowing I was so close to getting one, and now that same watch is way out of my price range.

I should start looking into MKII's before their price gets astronomically high.

I know how you feel, I am in the same boat as you man.

Id go so far as to say that's the best barn find 2998 that's appeared for a long time. Once cleaned a sympathetically serviced it's going to look stunning.

I was seriously watching with the intention of bidding, but deep down I know I'm still on 2015 prices and it would either end early or go stratospheric.

Is this a different watch from the recent eBay listing? Has it got its own thread yet?

Well if you can't beat them join them

Looks like there will be two in a week and this ones only 20 miles from me, wonder what ridiculous sum this one will attract

I'd have a go myself but like other I'm stuck in the 2012 price bracket
Odd looking hour and minute hands. Might be a good deal for those across the pond since GBP went down the toilet.

No movement, serial number or caseback shot either.

Another one bites the dust! Hopefully it's gone to a good home. Would be nice to see what either of this weeks eBay offerings went for if the seller had the resolve to see the auction through! Too many sharks swimming in the bay pond nowadays
