I had been watching this auction but with my purchase of a stepped 2853 a few weeks ago (should arrive this week) I wasn't a player. Never seen one of these with dog legs before. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-Grand...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Was also questioning the case although looks correct, hopefully more feedback from the seasoned experts here.
Well, the serial number puts it at 1962, which would make it possible. I've seen some weird combinations that were authentic (proven by Omega extracts) from 1958 to 1962.
The case on this one was astonishingly good If the dial/case combo is correct no surprise it went for 9k
Looks to me like it got shilled all the way up from about $4500, there are a few dubious bidders from that stage on. All low or private feedback, one with 58% `bid activity with this seller´, one 18% and another with 7 bid withdrawals in 6 months. I do prefer this dial in the earlier case references too.
