The real Triton Spirotechnique is a desirable and valuable watch. Not the OP watch, it's just a generic skin diver, regardless of the ridiculous asking price.

wut.. i don't know where your getting your facts but it's made by the same company and much less often seen

awful,...just awful, dan. shut it down and quite trying to get a gotca moment on me.

http://uhrforum.de/nicht-nur-die-krone-macht-s-triton-spirotechniqe-dodane-vintage-diver-t198112 ).

Looking back at their history, a Triton J Spirotechnique (TJS) always appears in their environment. Always with the note that this is even rarer than her big sister. And indeed, the omniscient network is very thinly populated with concrete information.

"Rare", heavy emphasis on the quotes here, doesn't necessarily make something valuable and or desirable.

Looks like any of the dozens of generic "dive" watches from the 60/70s as previously noted by others.

cmon,

let dan stick up for himself here. only reason he was salty in his post here is because he has resentment towards me because i wouldn't adhere to his silly notion of all rep goods fund terrorism in anther thread, as he posted gov lnks and other assorted things as his reasons. i ripped and lol'd @ that and shred it to ribbons. that's it...and he didn't like it

so he'll go out of his way to try and prove me wrong on anything to get that gotcha on me for his own satisfaction.

this unfortunately was not that time. but he tried hard

It IS just a generic skin diver though. If you asked 100 random Omega Forum members who made this watch how many do you think would say Triton ?

And if you asked the same 100 who made this one how many would say Triton.

And that’s the point, it’s just a skin diver (albeit one with a better than average name on the dial). Now having said that, I did have one in my hand just last weekend and they are something a bit special compared to the regular skin diver. I’d personally put that down to the dial color as much as the Triton branding. Anyway the market will decide.

Looks like there are two data points that have been provided where the watch was sold for <$1k. I wouldn’t base all my assumptions on just n=2 (could be outliers) but it sets a trend.

If it’s that clear this is a $2-4K watch then there should be more supporting data point. Not just someone asking for it but actually clearing it.

Well, here we go: eBay seller savethetreestoday is offering this Triton Spirotechnique for $6,000 (sorry, $5,995). This seller is infamous for listing crappy dive watches for absurdly inflated prices, using flowery prose to try and justify the robbery. This is the most egregious example I've seen. I have a "saved search" on eBay for vintage dive watches, and I've excluded savethetreestoday because he just clogs up the results with his overpriced junk.

As an example of the flowery prose, this watch might have been used in top secret military missions:

"it has been surmised that examples with missing numbers may have been worn by members of the French military who were on top secret missions. The numbers on the outside of this case back are missing. Because I don't know the provenance of this watch I cannot confirm this to be true."

Yeah, that's a crappy one, with a ridiculous listing as usual from that seller, including photos that attempt to hide flaws. But these crown-at-twelve Spirotechnique pieces with the bakelite bezel do sell for $8k in good condition. The best offer sales price for this one was over $7,900 USD.

Wow...
At the time they cost more in France than the contemporary submariner. Issued to the MN as well. Very very cool and desirable watches, although obviously not to everyone’s taste.

When something says 400 on catawiki aren’t there all kind of fees whacked on top of that. I know a few people who had bad experiences with them but we are in the US. I find the expert estimates a little misleading since they never actually see the watch. I could be wrong though only heard a few complaints here

On Catawiki you can set the Experts price as a seller btw. It's really bs.

In fairness to the OP, there are plenty of instances where the exact same watch with a different name on the dial can be worth an order of magnitude more - I mean look at the Zodiac GMT vs the Heuer 2546C GMT. The Zodiac is significantly rarer than the Heuer as well, as far as I can tell.

Still, I think this one has a REALLY small group of people looking for it - so until someone buys it and makes it the next Instagram flavor of the moment (*cough* Calypsomatic *cough*) I don't think you are going to see this selling for $2.5K.

Look at all the EPSA super compressors. Some are near identical up and down the food chain. One by a no-name can be $5-700, but same watch with Longines on the dial and you’re looking at serious money.
