Anyone ever had a (successful) claim with Secursus?

Also I should mention that they are saying I should've started a claim within 14 days and are now draging their feet due to me waiting until the 25th day as I was honestly still hoping it gets delivered and calling and emailing fedex daily.

Don’t think I have ever had anything delivered from overseas to me in 14 days.

**(Besides the beautiful framed pictures @Nobel Prize sent once as priority that took about 9-10 days after FedEx contracted from Sydney to Darwin as road transport)

I saw the 14 days term and thought it was odd. In the UK Royal Mail will not accept an item as lost until more than 14 days have past. Even DHL have suggested a similar time frame

I haven’t read the T&C but how do they define this point in time? As stated before, even the courier companies don’t necessarily consider them lost after 14 days.
I would’ve assumed it’s 14 days after you become aware that the parcel is lost, let’s say by a confirmation from the courier.

7.1. The Parcel Insurance only applies to Packages shipped by signed-for delivery service to the Recipient. The Parcel Insurance is effective for 14 (fourteen) days from the initial shipment departure. Make sure you opt for a fairly swift shipment service to ensure the parcel is delivered within that time.

Yes I am now arguing that the item was insured for 14 days and lost within that time frame. It hasn't moved since the second day after being shipped.

Ok. I've read the homepage of secursus. And it's bad form they dont mention those 14 days on their home page as the most important thing when shipping with secursus. :whipped:

And I mean really bad...

My interpretation of this is that the parcel is insured for 14 days and if lost within that time frame they have to pay out.

Oh for sure it's an obvious attempt at creating a technicality to get out of paying.
If your car gets stolen today and you are insured until next week and you claim in a month the insurance has to pay, how could this be different?

They have even worded it somewhat vaguely I feel.

That depends on which law applies and what the applied law is saying about these terms and conditions.

Edit: but I would consult a lawyer 100%.

They are a French company so French law would apply?
In which country are you located? It's not my field of expertise and my english is'nt the best. But in Europe we have a lot of European law that protects the consumer. I think sometimes a consumer can start a civil case in their own country against a foreign European insurance company. But this really has to be researched. I dont know the answer out of my head.

I've kept this thread as an open tab for a while, wanting to dig into the T&C to use Secursus in the future. But I really don't need to know more now. I'm sorry @Borosilikat , I do wish you the best and hope the matter can be solved successfully.

Well. You need to consult a civil lawyer who knows a thing or two about European law. You and secursus are both within the EU so maybe you can start a procedure in your own country. The best of luck!

Certainly not trying to play devils advocate here but my interpretation of this is : when you are shipping a parcel insured via Secursus and something goes wrong, for example :

It hasn't moved since the second day after being shipped.

you have to inform them asap that something isn't running as should.

Don't misinterpret me, I sincerely hope that you get your case covered, @Borosilikat .

Note for myself : rather open a case at Secursus for nothing if a parcel is delayed or the tracking doesn't update as fast as expected, than having to fight with them when it's too late. 🤪
