Anyone else done acquiring?

While there are times that I put acquiring on hold, I hope I never lose the fascination with artful mechanical watches that drew me to the hobby in the first place.

Just had a count up and I have 16 watches.

Light weight. Heck it's a bad month if I don't buy 16 watches. 😁

However that's my problem. I'm addicted to hunting down deals. I won't merely buy the watch I spot and like. If possible I'll buy everything the guy has then worry about what to do with them later. Eventually I have to wholesale loads of them off to dealer pals and sell package deals on forums hoping I can manage to keep a few prizes for myself.
I find I'm safest at large markets like the Chelsea NYC weekend gig, as there are watch dealers with large inventories, thus cancelling out my cowboy tendency to blurt out "how much for everything?"

I'm always done unless an opportunity pops up or I have spare cash... Nice collection!

Since then I’ve realised I have a few that “down count” and 1 is now OHPF so down to 15. But to each their own and I find I have too many that I don’t have any inclination to wear so I cannot see the point in keeping them. I may as well move them on and try the next one that appeals.

Have to say I’m heading in that direction. I got the bug when I was gifted my Speedmaster a few years ago but don’t have the funds to accumulate lots of the likes of Omega. I’ve collected three Timex ‘Peanuts’ Marlins in the past year, which I love, but was somewhat dismayed to see they’ve just brought out another one. I’m hoping to save for a Tudor GMT and once that’s in, I think I’m done.

Special moments in time seem to be the right time to purchase a watch. But then, it's difficult to let go of those pieces because it was representative of a special event in my life! So, it seems the perfect number of watches is the same as bicycles. = N+1

I am very content with what I have and would be fine if I stopped here. Of course I would love to add a bunch more but realistically think I there are a few more things peripherally on my radar then I’ll be done. One more gold piece and a either minute repeater/tourbillon or a PCC. Maybe some other small things along the way.
