Anyone else interested in the Tudor BB 54 ?

I'm a guy with a just under 7", flat wrist - that usually means I can wear a pretty big range of watch sizes with a sweet spot between 40-42.

However, I am really interested in seeing the Tudor Black Bay 54 with its 37mm diameter. The lug to lug is almost as long as the BB58 ( 46+mm) and the case is flattened and goes across the wrist. So, people are reporting it wears bigger.

I don't own anything like that ( well...maybe my Doxa, sort of? ) and I'd be really interested to see.

Anyone try it on, yet? Anyone else intrigued?

Im interested and hope to try one on eventually. For some time, ive been flirting with the idea of a black dial 58 on a strap but could never pull the trigger. then the pelagos 39 but that 21mm width band throws me off. Now it seems the bb54 has displaced the pelagos 39.

I think it’s a handsome looking watch. It’s the closest they’ve come to recreating the Black Bay One for Only Watch a few years ago and that thing was awesome.

I don’t see my buying one but I think it’ll be popular.

I've been very interested in the BB58, but, as someone who prefers bracelets, I'm just not buying any more watches w/o an adjustable clasp - glide lock, T-Fit, Omega's 300m, Doxa, EZ link, you name it. I don't care the system, but I'm done with manufacturers skimping on the clasp.

So, the Pelagos 39 and this new watch have caught my attention in lots of ways, including the clasp, but beyond this - the wearability. I don't have many watches below 40mm. Given the BB54's case shape ( long, flatter lugs ) and a similar absolute measure 46 v BB58 47, I'm thinking the actual wrist coverage on the wrist might be very similar.

I had the BB58 Blue and the silver case model and could not get comfortable with either watch. I sold the Blue and will eventually sell or swap the taupe dial which was worn four or five times. The new Pelagos is pretty but will be impossible to get so I will look to some 1990s models as my interest is growing there.

While Titanium doesn't hold too much appeal for me - I tend to like the feel of my watches - I'm impressed by The Grey Nato / Hodinkee's James Stacey's glowing reviews of the Pelagos 39 - so I'd like to see it when I can.

After seeing a real gilt dial I can't shake the feeling of the matte gold print being painfully inferior.

I want to see the new Pelagos in real because photos rarely do a watch justice or too much justice sometimes.

This is the first time I've heard of the Black Bay One. I found the picture below on the Tudor website – it definitely confirms my suspicion that the Black Bay 58, and probably most of the Black Bay line, would look much better without the snowflake handset.

i think you have a very valid point. My only Tudor is a GMT - and i have to say, I like the snowflake. It is distinctive. Without it, given this traditional design, my concern would be that a new watch, channeling the vintage design language, might not look like a tudor given how much they've focused on the snowflake - but instead might look kind of like everything else?

If I can get a 54, I am very seriously thinking of a way to either mod some pencil hands and a lollipop or have them made by a watchmaker to swap. I have a 58 and a 7016 Snowflake and I've had my fill, 58 will be sold off as well. Tudor could have hit a grand slam by simply utilizing the Black Bay One dial / hands combo sized down for the 54.

Saw the bb54 at the AD over the weekend. Works very well on my 6.25 inches wrist. To me, the most significant and positive change is the shorter rehaut, which brings the watch much closer to the form factor of vintage watches. Definitely encourage people to see it in person and give it a try.

I recently put down a deposit for a BB58 with plans of paying it off in June to have a June 2023 card for the new little one we are expecting. Initially when the 54 came out I had buyers remorse. My wrist is 6.25 max and would be better fitted with the form factor of the 54. But when I look at both in person I just like the overall aesthetic of the 58 better. I figured if I can rock a speedy or a Sub a 58 is no problem.

Having wanted a Rolex 6538 for a very long time, but never getting one because of the minefield (especially for the semi-educated, like me) that is vintage Rolex buying, I saw this release with great interest. The BB54 is the closest to that watch that I will ever be able to afford, and feel safe buying. I think it has great modding potential too.

I really wanted a Pelagos 39 in blue but now the 54 has me wanting something I didn’t know existed. Tudor really has my number, now I want the pelagos 39 AND the BB54 but fortunately my local ADs have zero stock of either

I’ve got several Tudor watches, mainly 39 to 41mm. The only exception being a 36mm one from 1968.

I tend to prefer watches around the 40mm mark but will drop down a bit for a dress watch. The 54 is just a little small for my preference.
