eBay accounts can be bought cheap, scammers buy them all the time. 100$ gets you an account with 50 feedback and a legit email, address and PayPal account. All verified.
Make sure the funds are in the account before shipping.

Also, most scam eBay accounts have a book that is sold first so if you have bidding by a 15 feedback customer check their sales and if possible, see what their first sale item was. If it was a book...... stay away.

Its easy to get the sellers contact info...but thats were you went wrong. You trusted a text message. and bogus email not even closely resembling the real thing. Never rely on an email, and if you receive a text its a huge red flag.

The problem is that you didn't use PayPal and Ebay website to verify the transaction prior to shipping. This is the ONLY way you will be protected. Clicking links in an email is simply foolish. NEVER trust an email as proof of payment, you must use the websites directly.

Rookie´s mistake. I´ve never sold anything on eBay. I do purchase a lot of stuff there, but never ever listed anything so I didn´t knew the process

Best thing is rather than go through emails go to 0ur paypal account page. If the payment information is there then it's there. If not then there is no 2 ways about it.

And remember that email headers are easily faked as well
Anyone with a bit of knowledge can send an email with header info like PayPal.com or what ever you could dream of.

Wow that's a stunning piece. I'd be absolutely choked to lose that in a scam. Close call indeed. Perhaps a sign this one is a keeper!
