T heir website is not very well done.... No info about that... A little bit scary by the way....

Hope they will read this thread...
I think they may be a little overdemanded these days. At least I can prove they are really worth it.

The case back is a perfect update for the FOIS as it ostensibly reduces the thickness of the watch and thus increases its wearability. Watching the visible Omega movement is mesmerizing. The case back is packed well and shipped with two tools that make the swap easy under 2 minutes. All in all, the shopping and replacing experience was excellent.

After seeing this thread, I had ordered version two of SpiralWinder's casebacks and it arrived today. I have a Thomas Priek caseback, which I love, so I will compare against that one.

Firstly, the Thomas Priek case back is very well made. I think I prefer it. It comes with a separate movement spacer and fits beautifully on my 145.022 and Modern Speedy. The SpiralWinder caseback is well made too, but it does not come with a movement spacer, which I believe is due to how much thinner it is. Instead, it uses a rubber o-ring sitting in a groove around the glass to press against the movement when screwed down. When viewing through this caseback, the movement seems to be pressed right up against the glass compared to the breathing room in Thomas Priek's.

Secondly, I had ordered the SpiralWinder caseback to put on my 145.022 (which it is advertised to fit) as my Thomas Priek caseback was ordered for my Modern Speedy. This didn't work out and I am not entirely sure why. It immediately felt like it wanted to cross thread my 145 case. I tried several times with no success to attach it to my 145 case. The OEM caseback as well as the Thomas Priek caseback screw down seamlessly, so I know there are no issues with my case threads. So, the Thomas Priek caseback will reside on my 145.022. The SpiralWinder caseback attached smoothly to my Modern Speedy, which is where it will reside. Hopefully, if anyone ordered this for a 145.022, they will have better luck than I.

Overall, I do really like this version two caseback. I like the design of it and it feels like it belongs on the Speedy. The design of Thomas Priek caseback stands out a bit. The slimness of this back is noticeable on the wrist. It is definitely very low profile. I am happy with the purchase. Still, I think I prefer Thomas Priek's a little more. His feels more robust. Anyways, here are some photos comparing the two...

Thomas Priek

SpiralWinder

I just attached a V2 Spiralwinder to my 145.022 69-ST and it fit perfectly. I found the best way to get it to screw on was to use the tool to turn the caseback halfway in the wrong direction while it's resting on the case until it clicks and then *very* gently start turning it in the right direction. Have to say, I didn't enjoy reading your comment about it not fitting the 145.022s the day before my caseback was delivered!

I have both the Priek and the Spiralwinder and in almost every way I prefer the spiralwinder. I think the very thin profile will take a little getting used to but it immediately feels much better on the wrist than the Priek.

This is exactly what I did numerous times with no luck. It always insisted on cross threading unfortunately. A number of other case backs threaded on with was your my 145.022 with ease, first try, except this one and I couldn’t figure out why. It threaded onto my modern one first go.

I am happy yours worked out! 👍

Finally received mine a few days later than anticipated. It took a couple of minutes to swap. The bracelet got in the way but other than that it was a breeze. Highly recommend for those wanting a thinner profile watch.

Thought everyone would like to know that I had my 1861 pressure tested with spiralwinder v2 caseback at the Omega Service Centre last week and it passed!

I knew you'd love it. 1,5mm is a huge improvement.

Bad news for me. Mine doesn't fit on the 105.012-66 CB case...
Impossible to screw, bad metal/metal noise, feels like I hurt badly the case.
I think I will send it back, or put it on sale here with a friendly price... Unless Spiralwatch proposes to refund.
Pics here: the original back, and the new one...

Hi there. Just wondering if the FOIS owners out there who've swapped out their casebacks are able to provide me with an answer to this question: Did you find an antimagnetic dust cover inside when you took the original caseback off?
The reason why I ask is because my watch got magnetised a bit over a year ago and I thought the dust cover was supposed to prevent that happening. My FOIS is currently still under warranty so I don't want to remove the caseback to find out as this might void it.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Yes, it has one. Same as pro.

Mine has one also. I don't think demagnetizing a watch requires a full service under warranty. It's usually just like a minute process that just about any competent watch repairer can do without opening the caseback.

Spiralwinder is fair: accept the send back and proposes a full refund.
Bad luck for me... But serious seller.
That's the good news of the day .

Agree, and/or you can order a demagnetizer from Amazon for $17.

My FOIS is/was magnetized. I used the demagnetizer from Amazon and it still shows as slightly magnetized when I use the Lepsis phone app but I have to put it very close to the sensor now.

Timing has improved since using the demagnetizer. It may require multiple passes on both sides.

Just ordered the Spiralwinder. My FIOS definitely could use some thinness. And I'm always a fan of seeing the movement.

What a thread to find!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I did get one of those cheap blue demagnetisers off eBay and it did the trick of demagnetising the watch.

Sadly it seems that SpiralWinder's casebacks aren't available for the 145.014 case so I have ordered a Thomas Priek caseback, which is in the mail, so to speak.

Got my sprialwinder v2. The thinness is amazing on my FOIS

Sounds like people have used these on the older pros i.e. 3750? I was reading posts that the dust/antimagnetic cover keeps the movement in place. Curious if there are any issues with the Spiral winder casebook and the movement moving around? I'm thinking of installing on it an older Pro
