To the OP, I looked into them but decided it added way too much thickness for my taste.

 

I haven't seen those before, but they are definitely a better price than the Thomas Priek ones out of Germany:

A while back they would post them on ebay too though every so often, at a $.99 starting price. If you were patient you could pick one up for $60 or so, which is what I did. They appear to be thinner than the ones linked above, but I honestly don't know.

 

I have had a Thomas Preik for my Speedy for over 5 years now and it is perfect in every way. Really top quality

 

I’ve used the Thomas Priek case backs on a number of my Speedmasters and my Yachtmaster. All passed pressure testing.

 

I can take some thickness measurements of the different case backs I have installed on my Speedmasters

 

I have a Thomas Priek on a 2998.5, no problems at all.
You get what you pay for.

 

Measuring the thickness of the watches was not as straight forward as I thought, most of my Speedmasters have slightly different thicknesses of crystal even though they are all genuine Omega crystals. So I tried to measure just the thickness of the case back as best I could.

Standard 1967 steel caseback = 3.2mm
Original Omega Sapphire case back = 3.1mm
CCedar / Spiralwinderwatchparts = 3.4mm
Thomas Preik Sapphire case back = 3.7mm

 

Liking the idea of a sapphire caseback for my FOiS - might enquire about UK shipping.

Someone hinted to it in the link above but I couldn't see a definitive answer - Is there a reason the FOiS has a Rhodium finish movement as opposed to that of the standard Moonwatch? In my opinion it makes the FOiS 1861 better looking but seems pointless if it has a solid caseback. Am I correct in thinking its just and upgrade in manufacturing materials over time?

A picture is worth a thousand words. About quality, I see it correct, it fulfills its function and I do not appreciate bad machining. Everything fits quite well and easy to assemble.
I bought one and seeing how it was I bought a second one for my 105012 and it also looks great.

 

So it looks like they have come out with a new and thinner version of this display caseback available on pre-order discount. They are claiming it’s only 2.3mm in height! I believe the standard moonwatch caseback is over 3mm.

If my calculations are correct this would decrease the thickness of a standard 1861 moonwatch to pretty much the same thickness as the new 3861.

So you get a thinner watch with a view of the moment and hopefully more comfortable (the hippocampus does dig in a bit for me). Very intriguing… and I’m not affiliated with the company in anyway

Finally got around to buy and mount one of the Preik ones. Top quality, but annoying the opener grooves is not made as on the original caseback = I had to do a special tool. Anyway - cool thing

If and when a Preik caseback is available for the new 3861 Speedmasters will installing one void the Omega warranty?
