not only is it listed as fitting both the 311 1863 and the prior 3573 1863, I have an email from spiralwinder, where they responded and stated it fit.

EDIT: not sure about the Hesalite/Sapphire sandwich, but it doesn't negate the lack of clarity on the website nor the email.

@brokenblinker, I'm not sure these casebacks are intended to be used on the sapphire sandwich Speedmasters. The instructions your quote refer to the iron dust cover, which wouldn't apply to your Speedy. Is your model listed in the compatible references on the Spiralwinder website?

Yeah that's a good question. Looking more closely, they say:

So...I assumed 1861 = 1863 for the "Plethora of modern models" and it wasn't called out in those that DON'T work, so I thought it was a fitment (I had looked at this in advance). I guess somewhere in very bold letters it should say "Does not work for any Sapphire caseback watch".

BUT it DOES say it fits the 311.30.42.30.01.006, which is a sapphire backed 1863 one generation up from yours and with (as far as I know) no major changes.

Reviving a little bit this topic.
From what i understood, the note "Dec 2022 - We have been informed ....." doesn't concern all the FOIS'es as some of you managed to install SpiralWinder caseback on thiers. Maybe they got lucky ...

Anyway, is there a way to know if a FOIS or a Blue Panda CK2998 is eligible or not to this case back ? Either with serial number or edition number ?

Maybe Omega certified watchmaker like @Archer can see for a given watch if the case is the same as the "Pre-3861 Speedmasters" ?

From what I understand the Spiralwinder caseback fits every FOIS (which is one reference and never changed during the model run).

OK, correct and i confused Blue Panda CK2998 and FOIS as an owned of those two mwatches.

But you are 100% right that they mention "It will also fit a plethora of modern models, such as the 1861 Professional (3570.50, 3594.50, etc), and FOIS versions."

The nuance is "Dec 2022 - We have been informed that the ck2998 models (Blue Panda, Hodinkee H10, Black Pulsometre) utilize different threading compared to the mainline pre-3861 Speedmasters, as do the Tokyo 2020 Speedmasters. These watches will not be compatible with this caseback."

I'm confused because to me, FOIS and LE CK2998 Blue Panda are the same in term of case so threading should be the same ...

Anyone could confirm for the Blue Panda ?

FWIW, it's been confirmed that the caseback will fit on FOIS.
The disclaimer only concerns the Blue Panda and the Black Panda.

I ordered a SpiralWinder caseback for my 3572.50. Removing 1mm of thickness sounds amazing!

1st frustration I found was lack of good instructions. The installation instructions just say "Fitment is simple - You will need to remove your old caseback and dust cover. Then, screw on the new exhibition caseback and enjoy the view! No spacers or additional parts are necessary!" Well, there is a gasket on the original sapphire caseback, and the one on the new caseback is a slightly different size (the ring diameter is smaller). I tried the following combinations:
  • original gasket
  • new gasket
  • both gaskets
during various trial/error. I was never able to get the caseback to sit flush to even start the threads. I don't believe I want to attach it with NO gasket, as I assume that would greatly hurt my WR. I installed the original caseback and gasket and sent off an email to SpiralWinder and haven't heard back.

If I don't hear back (as many here seem not to), I guess I'll have no choice but to do a credit chargeback.
Did you ever figure this out?? I took mine to a watchmaker and they took the original gasket off. But he didn’t really have a good explanation and was not the best English speaker.

Tried to install one on a 3570.50. Broke the printed caseback tool. Apparently mine is on very tight. Any recommendations? No ADs or Jewelers near me.

A cheap caseback opening tool, with a plastic bag between the watch and the tool to prevent scratching works great, broke the 3d printed tool too, kinda scary tbh, I would skip their tool all together

Can you post a side profile picture to show the thickness with the new caseback?
Here's a few pictures, caseback side feels identical to the omega one in shape, spiral winder says it's 0.2mm thinner

Looking to get one of the for my 1st gen FOIS. Will an Omega boutique fit it for me or does that cause problems?

They won't touch your aftermarket stuff outside of straps.

Have the Spiralwinder on my 1st gen FOIS (along DON ceramic bezel), looks great and passed pressure test without issues 😊
