Hi all,
First red flag for me is if you check his feedback score his has zero feedback as a seller all his feedback is as a buyer so that straight away looks very risky to me. Yes it's still possible to find really good buys now and then if you're lucky but the price for this relatively new model that is so easy to search and see what the most recent selling price is just so low as to not make sense. He could sell it to any dealer and get at least double. Of course if you pay via PayPal and E-Bay using a credit card you will be covered but do you really want or need the aggravation of having to deal with the potential problems? I would not proceed but who knows maybe he is a very wealthy genuine guy that just doesn't care about money but highly unlikely IMHO.

Hi

Yes it's possible because of his low feedback as seller, eBay to remove the listing to further investigation and my advice is to wait. If it will list it again it means that he manage to send to eBay proof of ownership and his ID. But the excuse with the serial number looks like a SCAM.
So LEAVE IT AWAY..

Regards

I don't really understand this. It's an auction listing, so did it run to the scheduled end? And if so, why (just like the "other" 3 listings) was the winning bid so low? It may well be that buyers are suspicious of the seller and his non-existent selling record. But if you can pay through PayPal then I'd say you're covered. The watch seems to look genuine but I'm not an expert. One thing that did strike me is that the Omega security etching is on a lug rather than the case back. Never seen that before. But I would phone eBay and explain your concerns, and see what they say. If it's pucker, then you'd have got an absolute bargain. 馃憤

EBay removed the item because it was a scam.

How do you know they removed it? The listing just says "Bidding has ended on this item", which is what it normally says.

I think that someone already call eBay if they removed the listing..and now the procedure is to check the seller..

When I open the link, it鈥檚 telling me that I missed out on it, not that it was removed.

This is what I am being shown. My best guess is depending on what part of the globe you are, eBay may send out different messages.

The sellers PayPal account isn't linked to his eBay account
"Payments: Other - See seller's payment instructions"
Seems like a scam, it's hard to know the exactly how it would pan out.... Maybe the sellers plan is to send a fake eBay invoice that gives you a link to a site that looks like PayPal, once you sign in there the scammer has your PayPal username and password leaving you exposed.

Enough to get the alarm bells ringing that he's so keen to proceed after it reaching such an undemarket price, you'd expect him to be trying to wriggle out.

Best left alone.

Normally I'm of the opinion that 'if you buy on ebay, pay for the d**n item,' mostly because I've dealt with so many non-payments on there that it's incredibly frustrating - but this one seems fishy. IF you pay, do not pay with ANYTHING but PayPal. It's the only way to ensure protection... It's tough to say, but there is a lot of red flags here. Could his comment of "if this doesn't sell on ebay this time i will sell privately" mean that he has dealt with several non-paying buyers before, thus has relisted it for the third time?

I can say from experience, I currently have an item listed on ebay for the third time as we speak because I have had two non-paying buyers in a row. Each time I relisted, I made sure to state that I am relisting due to non-payment, so that buyers are not suspicious of the relist. Both previous non-payment sales still show up in a completed listing search as "sold," as they technically were, but never paid. Maybe his low feedback has caused others to back out too, so he has relisted? I always stay on the side of caution, but could be possible.

I always think about potential upside vs the cost/trouble of having to deal with reversing a charge.

this is what? A potential $2k USD upside? That鈥檚 probably the number you should think about on whether it鈥檚 worth the trouble and also the potential to have issues with proving your side (ie empty box delivered and it鈥檚 he/she said scenario)

For what it鈥檚 worth, I think there are more than enough opportunities to find deals from sellers with less red flags. Watch collecting is often a practice in patience.

Yes agreed totally as the shipping is way too low to ship from Spain to my country. I鈥檓 afraid it will come empty box as well. Well thanks everyone for your kind advise and time.
