Hi all, I am newly joint member, please bear with me if I make any wrong statement .

Lately I came across one eBay item that attracts me 60s Omega Seamaster De Ville, I would like to share few photos from eBay , I am rookie to this watch and need your advise if this watch has been modded, especially the dials, it looks too perfect to me for 60 years old watch.

No the dial is original. Generally a nice watch there, even the crown looks correct.

Due to the unishell case these Seamaster Devilles tend to see less water ingress and have less amateur tampering.

What is the asking price?

Yea I recommend this specific reference, the 166.020 frequently because so many of them look excellent still. They’re great watches with great movements and this one is a nice example. Just keep in mind they typically go on eBay under, or around a grand even in this condition

I think that’s an entirely reasonable number, you could find cheaper but the majority will be more.

I think it’s ok. Certainly not a steal but not a rip off either. As you’re quoting USD I assume the watch is in the US - are you also? Otherwise you may need to include import duty (especially in places like the UK).

Actually based on current exchange rates I think it’s slightly high. Then again the exchange rate can skew it. $799 is currently £700 which I think is on the high side for a DeVille, head only, unserviced.

In the UK I think head only price in decent condition is around GBP£500-650 or £700-850 with bracelet. I’d expect prices in the US to be slightly lower than the UK.

Condition and price make it a Yes for me. Pay the Man he’s money, you will battle to find one in as good a condition.

Your always going to pay top prices for top condition.

I think on eBay in the condition this one is in and being steel with one of the more attractive non-luminous dial and hand combinations you’d expect 550-750 in a no reserve auction. You would have to wait and be a bit patient though to get the right condition and combination at that price so it’s a matter of whether the convenience of being able to hit it now is worth that price difference. I think once serviced and on the wrist it’s probably still worth it though as it’s a nice one

Yeah I agree. You may get one 100 cheaper with a bit of patience but is it worth the wait when you could we wearing this one!

The watch is in Japan, certainly there's import duty tax imposed above USD 150.

Where are you? If I’m the UK most of the Japanese sellers use DHL and you’ll certainly be liable for 25-30% fees. If you’re elsewhere you’ll need to understand the likely add ins but it may well make the price less attractive

I used to buy watches from Buyee Japan, mostly use DHL, the imposed duty is around 5% of priced item plus shipping cost and DHL admin fees around USD 15

So perhaps not a significant impact on price.
I hope so. I am not sure about eBay though, the seller told me , item subject to 20% tax. I believe it varies from countries.

It is a very nice watch but in my opinion the price of 800 USD is a little high. Maybe you should wait a little and check the auctions on eBay. I am sure that will pop up from time to time..

There appears to be some pretty serious rotor rub damage. Hard to know if this was addressed in the past or not, but it may be badly needing a service.

Just to say one thing - don’t think that watches are fake/dubious just because they’re in very good condition. If you look in the right places you can easily find examples of this age and older which are in remarkable condition.

I think the time accuracy is not that bad from the photo posted by seller

Apparently you don't understand the rotor and the auto-winding mechanism. They won't affect timekeeping, but based on the damage to the rotor and the plate under the rotor, I would assume that the auto-winding mechanism needs not only service, but repairs with replacement parts. This happens when the movement is not maintained regularly.

Regarding the timegrapher readings, the amplitude doesn't look very good, but the lift angle is set incorrectly, so that reading is not accurate anyway.
