1971 and you retire? That's a long retirement!

I’m seeing more of this since COVID.

I can see merit in all but one on your shortlist……. No prizes for guessing which one!

Ha, that depends on how long you live. :D I have worked without a break in employment since 1991. Well I once had 2 weeks off when I changed employers. All within the same industry. I have been with my wife since we were 17 and she has enabled me to have a great career and I want to retire early enough that we can spend time together again.

When I got my first car each weekend we used to drive 50 miles in each direction and just see what we came across. We are going to do that again. No emails, no me saying “I just need to take this call” or “I just need to be at this meeting”. Instead 100% focus on her. (Well 100% minus a small % to finish my Iron Man Armour ;).

:D To be fair it was a suggestion from earlier in the thread and it does look rather good. :whistling:

That was me. And I stand by it! Excellent watch. We can have room in our hearts for several brands.

This came to mind when I saw the moonphase Speedy in your shortlist. One of my dream speedies. I’m a sucker for aventurine dials.

We’re really good at spending your retirement money. You should just Venmo it all to us.

Don't do that, we'd just spend it on watches.

Thanks all,

So many great suggestions. Have selected my favs and my family have waded in. My other half has vetoed full gold, she just doesn't like it. Below are what I am going to look at, assuming I can find stock somewhere. One or to go just beyond the budget but not a problem.

Thanks again all very much appreciated

Josh

That's a great Haul, now for the pleasure of trying them all on the wrist and the wallet - good luck with your choice!

That's awesome! I used to play with Arduinos back in college (I think I still have the first gen board floating around the basement somewhere). How are you fabricating the armor - is it 3d printed, or another process?

I can't stand sitting still. If I ever manage to retire, I'd love to just take lots of workshops and learn how to make more stuff. I have some basic skills in woodworking and metal fab, but there's so much more to learn. Retiring to the couch and watching cable news all day seems to be pretty bad for the brain (from what I see from my relatives); this seems like a great way to have some fun challenges to wrestle with and keep the mind active.

To your original question, I also second all the people suggesting you pick up a vintage Ploprof. I think Tony Stark would approve.
Hi

yes I use a Bambulabs X1C to print the parts, then I sand them, paint them and then "Weld" the parts together. The final part is adding the electronics. But a great new thing to learn. But I am an amateur compared to some!

I suggest the blue dial Globemaster (130.30.39.21.03.001) since you don't have much blue in your collection.

Well there’s not much of a great many colours there, so going by that logic he needs many more watches covering a full spectrum of colours

Full gold Speedmaster.

You might need to work for another couple of months to stretch the 10k budget though.

I agree, finish it off with a bang, plus then you will have one all gold watch

Good luck in your quest, the Trilogy and Apollo 50th Speedmasters will have to be sourced on the secondary market but there are enough out there to make that fairly easy. Most of your selections have a distinct wearing profile so try to find examples that you can try on.

A predicador will tell you the sedna gold is la crème de la crème for a couple of months.
