Advice on Omega Constellation Pie Pan 1966

Hi, Im new to the forum and a rookie on Omega watches. I have been looking for a Constellation pie pan, and have been offered this watch for USD 1000. I know the crown and bracelet is unoriginal, and needs to be replaced. I already have an Omega rice bracelet, but unsure what the cost for a crown replacement is. The clock was recently serviced and a new original omega glass was replaced with the old.

What do you think of this deal, is it worth it or do you notice any other details that I should be aware off? The pictures I have received are unfortunately not very good.

I'd pass. Overpriced and seems over polished. And any pictures of the movement? If you're willing to be patient and do your research you can find something in better condition and at a better price. Start here

The lugs are heavily polished and it has the wrong crown. If it was being sold at a discount, that might be something you would accept, but it's not. As Nepomuceño said above, you can do better.

I agree with the above. Also, if I was spending 1.000 dollars I would at least expect decent pictures from the seller.

since the last two years I have the impression that the Constellation Pie Pans are becoming more and more popular (as I am also trying to catch one in a good condition&reasonable price)

Welcome @HMM
As the others have said, it’s a pretty tired looking watch with significantly polished lugs.
The dial has some spotting and marking to the upper right area, which suggests moisture ingress.
I would take the ‘service’ with a pinch of salt - because, whilst we always advise ‘no polishing’ I’ve never seen a watchmaker leave a case covered in crap like this (unless it is corrosion and that would be even worse)

Save your money and put it to a better example.

I agree. I think pie pan dog legs constellations are quite popular with starting collectors at the moment - driving up prices. I too am looking for a good example at a decent price (but I also consider myself a starting collector, haha).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated.

He now provided me with an invoice from the service from June 2020. It included change of glass, new crown (which is unoriginal), overhauling, replaced gaskets, regulation, cleaned case and pressure testing (OK 30).

Many of you mentioned that the watch is overpriced, however I have not seen a Constellation for under 1000 USD the last month I have been looking for this watch. My understanding is that you could get a crown replacement for approximately USD 100, and as mentioned I already have an original Omega rice bracelet. That would mean the serviced watch with original parts would total at approx. USD 1100-1200. What would you say is a fair price for a Pie Pan Constellation with all original parts?

Thanks again!

I agree with the above. There are better ones out there and as you mentioned the prices are ballistic. Why not hold your horses, buy another Omega (or pay a premium price for a top notch piece.) In the long run, pieces with damages, overpolished ones, like this one will not sell for as much as they do now. In my humble opinion.

Enhanced picture.

Yep, and coincidentally, the pictures were taken in a way that there's light reflections / shade on that area. I've developed the habbit of zooming in on exactly those spots first, because every so often, there's something hidden there...
You'll find better examples for that money - if you're patient.

I agree that you don't see Connies for less than that, just that you can find good examples for pretty close. The polishing is the biggest issue but the crown is very hard to find indeed so I would bank on not finding one. If you can find original decagonal crowns for $100, point me in the direction as I'll pick up a couple.
