Agree with the above regarding investment. I sold my 188 with only losing the service cost but I was very lucky

If it’s only been used for a few months it should come with 16 extra straps 😉

More “Can I make money out of this, even though I have no knowledge of it, just by seeking out free advice from persons who have spent years and years in the field?”-questions?

How lucky are we.. 🙄

Look back at all of your questions...

Not hating on you, but every question/post seems to be about potential resale value and financial upside for you.

Agreed. Watches are investment for me. I come from this group of people called Marwari l who are business men, it's like business flows in our blood. So trying to make sure I dont suffer a loss, if not make money.
But most importantly learning. Have learnt so much from this forum I couldn't have ever learnt coming from a small country like mine

He folks. Go easy on @AJwala. Hi is enthusiastic, lets not squash people. If you dont like his way, dont participate. You dont have to reply to topics that wind you up.

I grew up around Marwari's and I can promise you that if he buys ANYTHING for retail or that cannot be resold then his Grandmother is going to beat the shit out of him. Then the next relative will do the same until they run out of relatives.

We have a wonderful international forum, attracting widely diverse cultures.

I remember we scared off a fantastically ebullient Asian gentleman because certain Europeans felt he was showing off. Well arent we all? From his perspective, he was just joining in. (I did speak with him a fair bit). But some forumites got in his face.

If our enthusiastic OP can only buy watches that he can justify to his financially ruthless family then lets help him.

Thank you for your kind words @Spacefruit , you brought a big smile to my face. I am so glad to hear you know about marwari, true my grandfather will bash me up if he finds out of wasted money on a watch that doesn't hold value!! And yes I live in a joint family justification is required!!
Thanx again @Spacefruit 😀

From my perspective, there is a huuuuge difference in a newbie asking for reassurance in regards to whether a purchase would be considered a good or a bad one, and then a self proclaimed businessman, who invests in jewellery and watches, asking for free investment advices on how to make easy money off watches.

Cultural differences or not 😀

If you love it buy it. But as with most watches, you will lose whatever you spend on services and straps etc. I have a PAM 183 which I love, and bought at a great price. Im confident I could get most of it back if I ever chose to sell it. However I would never get back the service cost (which is coming up).

You have hit the nail on the head, illustrating cultural differences. You find his behavior reprehensible, while the OP has no intention of causing resentment. His culture will not let him buy without secondary value. Yours thinks making money from a hobby is slightly disdainful (my culture tells me that too).

And as for someone taking the collective wisdom of the forum, and making some easy money.....well if its that easy why are we not all millionaires?

😀
