Hi there,

Newbie here. After a fair amount of research, I am keen to purchase a second hand omega seamaster deville in gold.

The trick is I am seeing a huge price discrepancy between European prices £1k-3.5 and US prices $500-2k

Especially given the exchange rate. Is this something others are seeing in the market? Is it just a good time to buy from the us?

What factors should I consider?

Besides price point and obvious things like condition and original features is there any other advice anyone May have?

Much appreciated. Thanks.

Asking prices are just that, they aren’t sold prices.

Also don’t forget to compare apples with apples, you must compare the same gold purity (carat) and weight.

Finally, UK prices are generally around 20% higher than US as there are less watches for sale here and to import from abroad you need to add import duty plus handling fees which is generally 20-25%

I suggest continuing to research and look at photos until you realize that you don't actually want a SMDV. Then you will be ready to buy something more appealing like a Constellation, Seamaster, or even a nice Geneve. ::stirthepot::
